Someone shot my dog today!

Shooting a dog is wrong, no excuse. Whoever did it should be found and prosecuted. If someone did that to my dog....arg, no idea what I would do other than it would not be pretty.

But if your dog is barking all day annoying neighbors, I can see why something like that would happen. I would never harm an animal (aside from self-defense), but I would call the cops until the problem is resolved (and have done so in the past until the moron neighbor got a sufficient amount of fines to convince him).

these kids not only should be prosecuted, but its for they're own good anyway. if they go around shooting stuff on other people's property (even with a BB gun), its only a matter of time before someone fires back with a real one. and they would be justified in doing so since they can claim they saw a gun.

Probably some of your neighbors kids, keep an eye out for one with a BB gun and then sic the law on em.

Go door to door and confront people.

What is wrong with people? Hmmmm... Would be nice if you were allowed to take a BB gun and shoot the person who did this in the ear.... Free Piercing?

Yep, my dog stays in the yard at all times. Shes' on a 20ft lead which gives her a huge amount of area to run around. She doesn't really bark that much just at animals and people that go by. But she's inside now, sleeping at the foot of my sons' bed.

That was just uncool, probably have been one of your neighbors that have done that. I'm pleased that the dog was okay.

About 8pm tonight I brought my dog in from outside. Shes a 2 year old female beagle named Fancy. I noticed her right ear was bleeding a little. After examining the wound I felt something hard and round inside. I told my wife and she started feeling around and eventually pushed out a BB! Needless to say, I was suprised and angry. I called the state police and they came and took a report. It must have happened between 10:30am and just before 8pm because that was when she was outside, behind the house on a 20ft lead. We cleaned up the wound, which luckily turned out to be quite minor and she seems ok.
Needless to say I'm friggin' pissed. If I ever find out who did this, I'm gonna go Jack Bauer on their sorry ass.
I also sent the pics and description to the local newspaper to put the heat on...
Pics not dial up friendly!!

Thank you for the dialup warning - most people dont bother.

That sucks about your dog. I'd start asking the neighborhood parents if their children have bb guns. Chances are it was someone that lives very close to you.

and it probably barks all fvcking day. just like my neighbors.

Uh, I really only have 2 neighbors that are close - both have dogs. One has 4 of them that are outside dogs and bark alot as well. The other one has 2 but are pretty much inside dogs. Noone is shooting them, at least not yet.

Seriously, I think it was just someone being an asshole....

Cute dog. Sorry about what happened, but glad she's ok. The world we live in is a sh!tty one indeed... I hope you find out who did it, and I hope something bad happens to them :|

Sorry to hear that. My GF once caught a ricochet while on the balcony doing laundry. It was night time and we're on the upper floor. Some punks were crouched behind a wall nearby taking shots at the apartments. I grabbed my Powerline 1000S and returned fire. Let's just say I never saw them again. Bastards.

Ok... I am an avid Airsoft player, I've used both 6mm Plastic BBs and the 4.5mm BB Metal like ones found in your dog's ear..

There is NO way it is a ricocheted, it would've lost the power and just hit, not break the skin.

The rule when operating ANY projectile weapon is you DO NOT have it aimed when it is UNSAFE! You aim when it is safe and you are READY to fire. This WASN'T an accident, even if the gun accidently went off, they are still responsible since they had it aimed at your dog.

I have a crossman that can do the same damage as what happened to your dog, those guns HURT. I can't imagine the pain your dog must have felt, last major pain I experianced from Airsoft was when my friend unloaded a 200round clip from a Tokyo Marui MP5 on my cut ankle and even then it hurt less than when my friend shot me ONCE with a crossman..

You are lucky that if they were using a rifle, they didn't pump it up more. It could be worse. I am guessing they were using a CO2 Pistol either that or a Spring Loaded.

I too have a dog that I love very much.. I swear, someone did this to my dog, I would hunt them down and shoot them with EVERY airsoft gun I have, which is a lot btw

Find out who it was, goto redwolfairsoft.com, order an Tokyo Marui Gun (M4 Carbine would be your best bet) upgrade it to over 375fps and pay them a visit. I would, no joking either...

Bump cuz I have never been quoted in someone's sig before

To bad about the dog, however, I wish someone would shoot mine. I think he's retarded and he craps all over the house but the woman won't let me get rid of the dog because the kids love him.

One of these days I'm going to have an AD while cleaning my gun.

😉

That sux, sorry about your dog. Sounds like some punk ass kids with irresponsible parents did it.

To the OP.

BB guns don't shoot very far before they lose power or become very inaccurate. It's very likely that a neighborhood kid shot your dog from out a window nearby. Also possibly from a car on the road, but unlikely. Also, BB guns are not very accurate. If they used a cheaper pump type gun, then expect about a 6" spread at 20 or 30 yards. Expensive BB guns are highly accurate, but usually with pellets. BBs are not perfectly round, so even in a good gun they don't shoot very well.

Anyway, look close at your neighbors. Maybe go talk to parents nearby and ask if they have kids who own a BB gun. Kids need to learn gun safety, maybe the parents don't know that, and this is a good chance for you to push them into it.

Or maybe it was some bastard neighbor who did it, in which case I suggest calling the cops first thing if you find out it was an adult...

I would assume it was a local kid in the low teens. My course of action would be to leave a note in every mailbox in my neighborhood stating what happened and asking every parent who know there is a bb gun in the house to ask their family members about the incident.

I'd like to think that even if I never found out who did it, some irate parent would thrash his kid when he figured out his son is sniping neighborhood dogs.

Good idea about the note in the mailbox. I was thinking of doing that and stating on the note that if I even see a grown person pointing a firearm looking object toward my property, I'm going to return fire. Probably shouldn't do that but I'll think of something.

Given what you've said so far, it's likely the perpetrator is a young kid possibly pre-adolescent with a history of animal cruelty. If you're serious about finding this person, I'd stake the area out. If you see any youth playing nearby, it's quite possible that he knows or has been acquainted in some way with the perpetrator, so i'd casually ask him if he knows anyone around with a BB gun because you need some 4.5mm metal pellets for your own BB. Be cool and friendly, you'd be suprised at what information people are willing to volunteer.

If u do happen to find a kid nearby with a BB though, don't assume he's the perpetrator. You need evidence. So then proceed cautiously and hopefully you'll find something that can connect you.

You leave your dog outside, tied up, from 10 to 8 during winter? Your neighbors should call PETA on you.

      F. Leashing of animals. H. Infection and disease. No person shall willfully sell or offer to sell, use or expose any livestock, dog or cat having an infectious or contagious disease dangerous to the health or life of humans or animals.
Our city has a similar ordinance against barking dogs. If it barks for over 15 minutes, there is a warning given. Next time, there is a fine. The people who have to listen to the barking dog end up being the bad guys for calling it to the city's attention. Calling the owner doesn't foster great neighbor relations either.

You can bet it wasn't kids being stupid. It was an annoyed neighbor being stupid! Anybody living in the area behind you? I'd bet that's your shooter.
