Went over a cousins house at 11 pm or so after a wedding, stayed for about 30 min inside.

Walked outside and noticed a gel substance on my car, smelled it and knew what it was right away.

It was also on 2 other cars (family of mine)

Seems to have ate through my clear coat with minimal damage to the paint itself on the roof of my car and on my trunk. Its not that much, about 3-4 circle spots about 5 inches in diameter.

The other two cars had the paint down to the metal on the hood and trunk.

Justs shows you how f*cked up this world is.

No clue, my cousins park their 2003 Mercedes S class outside in the front almost every day with a BMW 5 series further up the drive way.

Never had a problem before. And no, I am not aware of any potential enemies I have ;)

They are going to try to go through their home owners insurance to see if they will cover the damages.

Just seems like a random prank. This wasnt your ordinary paint thinner watery stuff, this stuff was a thick gel/paste, probably some strong stuff.

All I could do was hose it off, I didnt want to rub it.

All I can do is wait until sunrise to see it in the light.

The funny thing about that is, I drive the same model and year car as the groom.

I highly doubt it, we're not kids anymore. but hey, you never know.

Back in the day we'd just use bologna. It got so cold at night that it'd freeze it to the hood of your car, if you didn't wait for it to thaw before peeling it off then it'd take the paint right off.

That's a dick move...soaping windows or whatever is one thing but something that can cause permanent damage is vandalism.

Man... now I want to put some Bologna on my cousin's car.

Of course, it won't freeze down here at this time of the year.

I think it only fades the paint. I haven't heard of it tearing paint off. Still asshole move.

Just got an estimate for $2600, my first one from a place which usually charges on the high side.

I hope home owners covers this, I know auto insurance will raise your rate even if your not at fault. (happened to my sister)

Edit: and no, I was not parked in the middle of the road or something, it was in a private driveway.
