I believe in some states it's illegal not to report an accident if it's over a certain dollar amount. I think in WA it's $500

Normally I'd agree... but over little tiny scratches in the bumper it's dumb to get this bent out of shape. I will agree that you should just get the paint job because it's not your obligation to be nice and take a hit for her.

My personal opinion, you went to a place that you says does an awesome job and you apparently trust... sanding it a bit and buffing it may work, but then you have to consider that you thin down the paint/clearcoat by wetsanding then next time you get little scratches it may definately have to be painted. Get it painted. You're entitled to that.

if you go for the $300+ option, then you get the BAD karma, which is worse than no karma at all

Me too, live with the scratch and move on

I agree with some posters. Those scratch are nothing. Just don't wash your car for a few days and they will blend right in.

Seems $45 is not even worth my time to take it to the shop. Take the $45 and go get some buff stuff and do it yourself.

I disagree with that statement (in bold). Sometimes settling it out-of-pocket is suggested in an effort to keep insurance rates from going up...an accident is just that: an "accident" not an "on purpose."

You've already gone farther with this than I would have. If she was yapping on her phone, or if it was kids dicking around, I might drop the hammer, but otherwise I'd have let it go then & there.

God, we've got some "lamebrains" on this forum, don't we?

Get a Sharpie from your favorite office store and fix it yourself. $3 FTW! ;)

I think I'm with the guy that asks for $100...just pocket the cash and move on.

I called her and told her that we'd try to see if the buffing works; if it does, great, if it doesn't then we'll repaint.
