It was in Freakonomics or a simliar type of book, where it studied two groups that were asked to donate money to Africa.

One was basically "60% of African kids go hungry at night, 5 million will die in the next year from starvation, etc."

The other was "Meet Sarah, she is 5 years old and will go hungry tonight along with her 3 year old brother"..

And the latter was the one that got more money donated.

Any help is appreciated!

I found a few similar studies by searching "charity donation study empathy"

They seem similar to what you're looking for. I only opened 1 cause they are pdfs and it takes my computer like 5 minutes to open a pdf.

Why not, we really should take care of our own. If that many people are starving to death there, it's called evolution. Natural selection is phasing them out. Let it happen.

🙄

It has nothing to do with evolution, but the root of the problem is that birth rates need to be curtailed. Of course, that would involve birth control, abortion, sterilization, things that offend our God-fearing souls, "culture of life" etc.

So it's better for tons of children to suffer and starve to death. 'But hey, for $10 I can save Sara!!!111 derp'

Meh, I stand by my statement. This is a society/people that cannot sustain itself, thus they are starving to death or dying of disease. If they were meant to be, they would have adapted. Let them go.

This isn't a couple people here or there who are down on their luck and need a few bucks to buy food or school supplies.

It has nothing to do with natural selection. Are they genetically deficient? Are we genetically superior? No. If we were born into the same situation we would starve too.
