See that's the thing...she's on this quest to "teach me a lesson". This whole thing started a couple years after she had a ride in my car...she mentioned getting a Mini Cooper S, with a comment about how now she'd have something faster than me/etc. I was like hah nope, I'd bet you $500 that I'd take you in a drag race. She actually took me seriously (wtf) but bet $50.. 😕

She thinks she's a fantastic driver (has gone to a couple driving schools), but doesn't seem to comprehend that the best driver in the world can't make a car go any faster than it can possibly go.
 
I wonder if she'll make gratuitous excuses . . .

1. You brake spooled - I didn't (I've heard it before)
2. It's hot outside
3. Track is not properly prepped
4. Didn't get enough heat into the tires
and so on...

oh and is she hot? noodz if you win

no race is won till its done obviously you have the clearly faster car on paper but if you stalled and she makes her 15 second run, she might beat you. if you can hit a 13.65 if you stalled it might be a close race once you fire it back up and go. =P

Funny, she said the same thing...'maybe you'll stall!'

Hard to do when you're launching at 5000rpm, but anything is possible...
 
To me it'd be more fun to not launch at all, just roll out in 1st, let her get a lead, then slam 2nd and give it the go pedal. This way she gets to enjoy a second or two of feeling like she has it in the bag, followed by the big disappointment as you blow by her.

This is now my preferred method of dispatching the annoying gnats that occasionally swarm me at red lights.

I've never seen CVs grenade, its the axle at the exposed splined section just before the joint that shears. Having play in the joint itself (or diff) helps the problem by allowing the axle to first accelerate quickly a short distance and then BANG as the slack is taken up. Compound this times many hard launches.

No way on street tires though. I was just thinking of improbable ways you could lose. 😉
