MR2 specs currently - Can't remember is this ~ 240 rwhp?

JLee Turbo thread - June and you still haven't done it? tsk tsk...

Somewhere between 240rwhp and 260rwhp, I'm guessing...really not sure.

Yeahhhh I know...but I didn't get my car back till late August, so most of summer was gone already. I need to get the dump tube welded, and I had to pick up a new turbo adapter (the one I had was junk). I have all the stuff now except the dump tube, some gaskets & hardware...once I have that, it should take a day. I'll need to drop another $500 or so to get a tune before I can run all my new fuel stuff, so that'll probably be later.
Do it before the race.

Are you using any special regulator or SAFC for the injectors?

I will need a ROM tune (re-flash by ATS Racing) or a standalone for that. I can run the turbo on my stock fuel system..just won't be able to push it nearly as far (it's a 450bhp capable turbo..I have fuel for ~270rwhp).

I don't remember all his posts. Him linking to a not stock quarter mile video and just saying 'not-quite-stock' had me doubting a 13.65

"Here's my car (on a bad day), if you're not familiar..." wasn't clear...? Do you need me to post the timeslip too?

See that's the thing...she's on this quest to "teach me a lesson". This whole thing started a couple years after she had a ride in my car...she mentioned getting a Mini Cooper S, with a comment about how now she'd have something faster than me/etc. I was like hah nope, I'd bet you $500 that I'd take you in a drag race. She actually took me seriously (wtf) but bet $50..

She thinks she's a fantastic driver (has gone to a couple driving schools), but doesn't seem to comprehend that the best driver in the world can't make a car go any faster than it can possibly go.

She's obviously not that confident :p

At least she's got experience, but I always lol at the people that think they're the ish when they've never been on a track, very different than the street.

Good luck and make it hurt ;)

Hah trap speed of 103 even with an iffy 60' time, she's cooked. Even with some decent mods (LSD, added boost), she'd be hard-pressed to make it even close. She'd need the perfect launch just to hit mid 14s.

I also had a very stiff transmission (most noticeable with the 3 -> 4 shift delay, if you listen during the video)...dropped Royal Purple and put in Redline Shockproof Lightweight and I can actually shift now. I also went from "high performance all season" Kumho Ecsta ASTs to "ultra high performance summer" BF Goodrich g-Force Sports, so hopefully my 60' won't be abysmal. :p

Hmm. I could easily see you hitting low 13s or potentially very high 12s with only minor boosts in performance. Add about 20hp from the 13.65 run, combined with quicker shifts and better hookup and you're gold.

Yeah, I am not too far away...part of me wants to run with the new stuff just to make it even more hysterical, but another part of me really wants to run the car again the way it is to see what I can do with a usable transmission and tires that don't horrifically suck. Unfortunately, I'm about 90 minutes from the track so it's somewhat of a production to get there..and if I broke anything, I'd be screwed.

Bwahahaha

She's awfully confident... better check for mods and N2O plumbing :p

People at work are saying she's probably going to crash before we even get to the track...she's not even past the break-in period (which I had to tell her to look up, since she had no idea). :p

I figure $50 should mostly cover my track fee ($20), two gallons of 104 ($19.50 or so), and gas there and back...haha

I've told you dude, get it bolted together and I'll do it at work. Stop making excuses :p

Also, having driven both JLee's MR-2 and a Mini Cooper S... the Mini is toast...

Hello Satan? Is that you?

Hah, everyone here knows how much I love the M series BMWs, but her budget would probably limit her to examples with ~100k miles or so. I'm not experienced working on German cars either, and the maintenance worries me on such a car. With the G35, there are lots of local examples in her price range with 50k or so miles, and I'd imagine it should be pretty reliable. I've already told her to expect higher fuel costs, and to take it easy on the tires, 18"ers are a bit more cash than her 14" on her current car :D

jLee, if you get video, I think this will be top 3 epic all-time ATG thread, if not #1 outright.

Bleh, S54 is one if the cleanest simplest engines out there to work on, only a two stroke is simpler. That's what makes it so great. I mean have you seen how clean the harness is, lack of hose rats nest, etc

Parts costs on the other hand...
