Somehow I married into a Jerry Springer episode

Here's me: my mom and dad have been married for 41 years. They've never cheated on each other, nobody in my family has ever divorced, we get together for holidays, everyone likes each other, and nobody ever fights.

My wife's side: Her brother leaves his wife for 3 months, then gets back together. During their time apart he unknowingly impregnates a stripper who shows up at their door with a 5 year old some time later and demands child support. Years of turmoil and treating the boy like a red-headed step child lead us to take him in and let him live with us. So, we're taking care of his love-child and making him go back to school (he dropped out because his parents wouldn't enroll him properly) with no financial support being asked. Yesterday, we notice her sister-in-law's Facebook status is single, and investigate. Turns out my wife's brother was caught having sex with his sister-in-law during a July 4th party, and a huge fist fight broke out. He escaped to a motel somewhere and is complaining that his face is pretty messed up, and his redneck in-laws are getting guns ready for "an old fashioned lynching" if they can ever find him.

So, how was your weekend?

Post the address to his motel and room number on facebook FTW?

Wow, I must have the most boring family on earth.

Didn't do much for most of the day. In the evening I picked up my grandmother and brought her out to my other grandparents' condo, which overlooks the St. Croix River in Stillwater. We sat around and drank prosecco until the fireworks started, then went home once they finished.

Oh, we were accompanied by my brother's girlfriend's parents as well, who are probably the most straight-laced people I've ever met. Didn't do anything with my wife's side of the family, but they are all pretty quiet and non-dramatic as well.

I like having no family drama at all. It's very calming.

Unknowingly?

What? God did it remotely?

Pics of said stripper or epic thread FAIL

This happened over 17 years ago. After decades of drugs, she now looks something like this:

I have some family members that are in situations like that.

My adopted older cousin is never ending getting into messes. Has 5 kids from 3 different women, etc.

My younger cousin had a kid at 16, was pregnant at 15.

Her kid is 10 now and a good kid it seems at least.

It's weird that I'm 11 years older than my cousin and have a 2 year old son and she has a 10 year old daughter.

Plus side your cousin and daughter can do homework together

My wife's side has it's share of white trash drama. I moved us 800 miles away from that stuff. My 4th was spent doing absolutely nothing of any drama or interest. And it was great.

I feel sorry for kids that have to grow up with all this baggage. It's tough enough with normal stuff but having to add issues like this will either make them tough or break them.

Well, so far, it's broken them. Their son went gay a few years back and was arrested in a Craigslist "manwhore" sting. Their super hawt daughter started modelling (stripping) and then got married to the first guy that spent money on her (he turned out to be a good guy though). Their illegit son is in our care because of his problems and their parenting...good times all around.

This stuff was not on the job description when I signed up.
