i am a smoke. i smoke outside .. religiously. i too can not stand if people smoke indoors. may it be a house, apartment, car, bar, mall etc .. don't matter.
i think it's rude. i don't like my home or car to smell like cigarettes.
why would i do that to someone else?

no matter a smoker or not, a jerk is a jerk

I went to an interview a few months ago. Another interviewee came in and sat right next to me. At least I think he was. Dude looked like a homeless bum that hasn't ever touched a computer. Smelled like he rolled around in an ashtray, I wanted to vomit. Interviewer called me in a few minutes later, I was nauseous during the whole interview.

Dang it. Where I'm staying right now is a company provided house. It is here for employee convenience. One of the major rules is "Don't smoke indoors."

I swear, some smokers are worse then little children. The moment you turn your back they light one up. I just got home and it smells like someone smoked a full pack of cigarettes.

Go outside people, especially if you don't own the place! (and no, It isn't cold, raining, or snowing. Its a nice spring day!)

don't listen to these naysayers. I imagine our first meeting could go something like this:

Hutz: I will like to talk to you about bringing legal action to the fiend who did this to your boy.
Homer: Well the fiend who did this to my boy is my boss. Besides, the doctor says it's just a bump on the head and a broken toe, nothing serious.
Hutz: Pfft. Doctors. Doctors are idiots! There is no telling what type of permanent injuries he might have. You might have to wait on him hand and foot for the rest of his natural life. That's the down side. Now here is the good part. You can ching ching ching cash in on this tragedy.
Homer: Wow.

The guys are actual with a company that is not our own. They are staying for some training that my company is providing. (or something along those lines).

Needless to say, I will let the guy in charge of the place know that it might not be such a good idea to let them stay again.

I love smokers!

Rollin_Smoker.gif

I like it! Cigarette smokers didn't even cross my mind when I read the thread title. I thought it was going to be about the OP's new smoker that didn't work properly :)

Good call... sorry if I came off wrong but as a smoker that will go out of my way to keep everyone happy the rules/laws are getting out of hand. Us smokers that do follow them are getting it handed to us but the ones that dont give a darn still dont give a darn:(

I firmly believe that nobody should be able to smoke - (and I always get a PM or 3 and usually public flamage about this) - nobody actually chooses to smoke cigarettes.

Once you are through pack 4 or 5 its not about choice. The only "choice" you are making is to which company you are kneeling down, unzipping, and inserting into your mouth, the implement of your own death.

You choose only to prevent your bodies withdrawal response, which if you simply suffer and abstain for 72 hours, you would no longer be a slave. Some people are just weak.

Oh and nobody "enjoys it" either. You are deluding yourselves.

Outdoor smokers still impact other people. You guys stink just as bad as the indoor ones.

There. /soapbox and thats as far as I'm taking it tonight.

You may need to check the batteries in your meter.

Why..... I already said I go out of my way to respect non smokers but because you don't smoke you still feel the need to persecute me? One question for you.... A carton of cigarettes costs about $5 to make and we get taxed from state and fed in WI and it comes to $ $60+ a carton. If every smoker quite in one day the darn state would go bankrupt in a week. Keep wanting it and when we all do quit to meet your standards "we" will be laughing at you about tax incresses because all said and done it will be less for us!

Like I said I go out of my way to stay out of your way and just want to be left alone.

apparently kjm pawned off his sarcasm meter and sold the batteries for a carton of smokes.

I apologize if my Simpsons jokes persecuted you. Please remove the scarlet letter from your forehead now.

Never have watched the Simpsons but I think I get your point..... just kind of sad thinking how things are going now days with "you are like me or you are wrong". I spent way to many years in the military protecting our rights for this crap to be going on:(

Meh, I wouldn't go that far. I have no problem banning it in restaurants, bars, and public buildings though.

I'd extend it to a certain distance from doors and windows. It's horrible when they crowd around the door when it's raining.

So no one ever quits? BS. I hate smoke because my parents and their friends used to smoke place out as kids. Fkn ridicules when my dad would have poker parties and I'd have to put a fan in my window to get to sleep anyway they both quit ~ mid 40s. In thier generation everyone did it but once health risks were known they dropped it like a bad habit. My dads 72 today and all good still.

I havent' had a smoke since Jan of '08. I'd like to get to the point where I could smoke a cigar at a poker party, but I have an addictive personality, and know it wouldn't take much to tip me over...

That being said, I've always wished someone would invent a lemon-fresh, vitamin packed, tooth whitening healthy cigarette that freshened your breath. I loved smoking. I loved carrying gadgets and going through the motions.

I do, however, love being a non-smokers now, since that doesn't exist. I don't get hostile at smokers. I don't mind them crowding a doorway. The rules for smokers are rediculous. Our company started a ban on smoking on company property. It appears so did a company that shares the other side of our parking lot. One of our guys stands on their lot, and he stands on ours. :)

my last roommate would smoke inside when he wasn't supposed to. Anytime he did it and it smelled like smoke, I would unload half a can of OUST in the house to a point that it was hard to breath and he would get pissed. I held to my guns. I did it everytime he smoke. I would fill the room up so bad that he would need to leave.

He quit smoking inside.

I'm not a fan of cigarettes, period. But aside from that, inconsiderate people suck, smoker or not.

with all the genetic engineering, why cant they make tobacco smell good...

What is strange is that in the 60's and 70's it seems like smoking was widely accepted, people smoked at their jobs, in restaurants, etc..

I wonder what changed in the smell of smoke that people hate it so much now? Is it just the knowledge that it causes cancer that makes it so unwanted now? I don't like having direct smoke blown into my face, but I can tolerate the smell to a certain extent. People these days act like it is the worst smell in the world, and they can't be in a room that someone has smoked in in the past 24 hours.

And, no I'm not a smoker, but I grew up in a smoking family, so maybe I'm just used to the smell.
