That's exactly why my friend's brother-in-law got a laser sight for his glock. If someone comes into his house at night looking to rob the place, they'll hear the hammer being pulled back on the glock and see a red dot on their chest.

Before you (and the OP) just chalk it up to "stupid", let me ask you this: how far would you go to protect your family? I don't know how immediate of a threat these kids are to the OP, but I have a wife and two children. If people - who are running around with SHOTGUNS - were pissed off enough to retaliate against me, I'd certainly be considering every option available to me. And when the lives of my wife and children are at stake, I can't say I wouldn't at least consider "tweaking" the facts. I'm not saying I'd definitely do it, but if I felt cornered, it would be on the table.
Not to sound overdramatic, but it's only "stupid" until these punks ransack the guy's home, or worse. All of a sudden those "stupid" options, in hindsight, begin to look quite attractive.
Filing a false police report is not something that is taken likely. Not only does his family have to deal with the legal ramifications of doing so, their credibility in any future incidents will be sent straight to the sh!tter. On top of that, it's going to deter these kids for a few weeks at best. Finally, it's only going to get these punks even more pissed and whatever they would've done will be amplified many times because you're further pissing them off with futile actions.
I'm sure your family would love to be put in that position. :roll:

Imagine if I filed a false police report and I was wrong about who did it.... that kid gets in big trouble, and his family gets mad and decides to exact revenge... how does that make my family safer?
cops might be able to test the kids hands for paint residue and match it to the paint on your car. of course, i saw this on forensic files and it was done for a murder. i doubt they would go to that kind of expense for vandalism.

What happened to you being "sure" it was them? Naturally, I would think that the whole false report bit would be hinged on the fact that you KNEW, for a FACT, that it was them, which IIRC you said you did.

set up some kind of vid surveillance - maybe with webcams or something (i dont know how powerful they are these days). catch these fvckers in the act and make them your b1tches...
Look at the Glock 19. It's Glock's mid-sized 9mm pistol that will hold 15 rounds in the magazine. You can also use 17 and 33 round magazines in it if you don't mind them sticking out the bottom of the grip. 9mm ammo is cheap. Practicing with a 9mm cost half as much as everything but a .22 pistol.

This vandalism sounds like the work of the punks in question. Hopefully they'll have an accident with the gun or overdose or die in a single car accident.
