Some political yard signs in my neighborhood

The moron who moved in behind me (thank you green zones), immediately put up a stockade fence, and a sign that said property patrolled by guards dogs. Then, the gate got a big American Flag with a blue stripe on it. Throughout the political seasons (his property is on a busy corner) various extreme right (like you have to look up on the internet to even know who the Fs are) local state political signs appear (weirdly, no Trump signs). Looking through the bushes I see he has turned the place literally into a junkyard (again, thank you green zones). He also has probably 6 to 8 beagles in a kennel that announce when someone either arrives or leaves the property, and a rooster that crows throughout the day.

Sounds like someone who doesn't want to be part of functioning society.

I used to pass this when cycling sometimes. It's not there any more (images laboriously cut-n-pasted from streetview's archive - sorry for the excessive number, I got a bit obsessed with trying to capture the full glory of the constantly changing paint job). I guess it's kind of a 'yard sign'. The closest thing I've seen to one while out and about round this part of London (other than England flags in windows when the world cup is on).

I don't know what it was supposed to convey but what I heard later - not necessarily correctly - was the owner of the land had some sort of grievance against the local council. The turret was at one point turned to face the council offices.

Its honestly the only damn flag I don't ever see on anyone's house anymore and I want to take that symbol back.

Trump/magat displays have virtually disappeared up where I am. The majority of people up here can't stand the traitor, but we had some hold outs who only just seemed to jump ship.

I think a lot of them have finally realized they got played by a crook, fraud and traitor, they just don't want to admit they embraced and supported a complete lie for many years. I had a plumber try to tell me how he and his kind had just been duped by the media, inferring they weren't at fault. Took him a few tries because I was laughing so hard at his rehearsed excuses.

I did see one yesterday that said "Don't want an abortion, don't have one! Don't want a gun, don't have one!" which was Wisconsin clever I guess.

I did see a small local detailing business posted pictures of his work, and one of them inside his shop had a TRUMP 2024 banner on one wall. The responses on Facebook were funny, then downright combative. People saying they wouldn't support the business of a Trumper, the business owner saying he didn't need pussy liberal customers anyway. The posts were taken down after a day as he thought better of it apparently.

In my area one person kept his Trump 2020 sign up for over two years and finally took it down a few months ago....SAD! The most common sign is for a new HVAC company.

Five houses down from me still has his "Don't blame us we voted for Trump" sign up. Next door neighbors on one side and two houses down on the other side took their Trump signs down after the election, but I'll never forget.

One of my neighbors is also a co-worker, and his son was arrested and convicted at DC for the January 6 insurrection.

Highly dependent on specific state and town, mostly falls along the lines of rural/urban divide. For example in Chicago area where we spent a lot of years the further away you move from Chicago the more Trumpy it becomes. 30 miles out from Chicago it's about even mix between Trump and BLM/Rainbow signs depending on the neighborhood. Still lots of Trump/Punisher/Thin Blue Line decals on trucks, in restaurants and gyms. On one of my walks there used to be a fully decked out Trump house with 5-10 Trump/GOP signs. Sadly I can't find a good photo of the house right now, but it was every bit as bad as you can imagine, and to top it off the owner was clearly not taking good care of the property, I'd say it was about 5-10 years away from being condemned at the rate it was going. 40-50 miles out from Chicago it's practically Trump country, multiple 6 foot Trump flags, nothing else, a few years back somebody vandalized sledding hill in Fox River Grove with giant 20 foot letter sized spray painted Trump sign. After January 6th I've seen some people put away Trump signs, but I'd say it was a fairly small minority, and some put them back up after a while, honestly, at least judging by the yard signs I'd say Trump is basically just as popular as ever.

We've moved states about a year ago though, where we are now the yard signs are smaller and a lot less annoying, and they're mostly rainbow/love signs, but again, that's highly dependent on the area you live in.

This is my memory from my childhood. On Flag day, the 4th, etc. folks up and down the block hung appropriately sized flags, nothing partisan or exclusionary at all, just simple gratitude for being American.

Now, almost all the American flags I see are outsized symbols of hate and exclusion. Makes me sick to my stomach. I want MY flag back. Old Glory. The Stars and Stripes! The symbol of the best of our aspirations, to finally live up to our ideals, which can almost make me cry when I think of what we still can be.

Reminds me of when Reagan came to town (Media, Pa) during the 1980 Presidential campaign. Wow, was it a different time! We were 10-12 feet away from him! Some Swarthmore students (my alma mater) were there, doing their thing. One was dressed up as a tree with a sign that said, "Stop me before I kill again" (Reagan famously said that trees cause pollution.)
The Secret Service hauled him away! Terroristic threat and all!

Another group started chanting faux right wing stuff, getting the yahoos to chant along. They kept edging towards the absurd, finally coming to "NUKE THE WHALES, NUKE THE WHALES."

Instead they 'try' to be more subtle, a couple have the original American flag with just the thirteen colony stars in a circle. Yes because going back to when we had slavery and women had no rights is what we should all be proud of.
