Thanks man.

Oh here are the details on it:
It's a 1995 model that is fully loaded with all options (except the Auto :) )
5-spd, VLSD, leather, AC, sunroof, ABS, 6-spk w/ CD & tape, 16inch rims

We bought it with 113k kms on it in December for $12k CDN before taxes ..now it has around 124k kms.

I posted pics before when I got it, but the quality was crappy and I didn't have any interior pics. So now I updated them.

Thanks guys!

The best part about it is that the car is relatively rare..you don't see it every day on teh streets!

The only thing preventing me from getting one is the back seats... I heard it's impossible to fit 2 adults back there....

You should consider a SR20DET engine swap ;)

Well its one of the few affordable RWD sport cars that you can buy now. It has exceptional handling and is quite responsive. Only downside is lack of power (which is fine by me...for now..I like my insurance as it is).

That and it is quite rare since it wasn't popular in North America (again..engine was downside). The Japanese/European/Aussie market gets a turbocharged version of this car making around 220hp and it is easily tunable to double that power...ok maybe not THAT easy..but can make awesome power.

You can fit two adults back there...they won't be comfortable..neither will the driver since he'd have to move the seats up..but they do fit. I know..I had two of my buddies (both in the 5-10, 6ft height area) sit in the back...of course they were whining about lack of space..but they fit. For space, we have a spacious Maxima that can fit 5 people in comfort. Of course I've seen the older Civic hatchback with 8 ppl inside..all high school students of various sizes..not all of them were exactly sitting..but it worked.

SR20DET will come once I graduate from Uni (around 4-5 years)..I need money to pay tution money...SR20DET comes after that. Plus I doubt I'd be able to drive it in the winter if it had a SR20DET..way to much power.

engine swap. it's nothing w/out a nice SR20DET in there. do it. do it now! :)

friend just did a swap on a 240SX. putting like 190HP at the wheels. upgraded suspension. the car is insane. gonna push the boost up once he gets the blow off valve and larger intercooler. it is easy. not that expensive to do. $2.5K for the silvia front clip from japan is what i heard.

you can go w/ something cheaper than an SR20DET. That thing's overpriced now just because it's the thing to do right now. Lot's of other nissan options out there.

huh?

you mean in terms of engine modification? Well you could turbo the KA24DE (which is a strong engine..the stock crankshaft/pistons can handle 400rwhp). I thought of something else actually...a little retro. I wonder if the old L26 engine <from the old Z, Maxima/810) would fit in there...hmmm...

Other options are the CA18DET and the RB20DET and RB26DETT (very very few have done this).

yeah few do the skyline motor. fj20 is a good option as well. my roommate was researching it for his datsun 510. stronger than the SR20. modeled after the racing FJ24 motor. he knows alot more about it than i do. but it's a good option and alot cheaper than the SR20DET. check australia for good prices. i can almost guarantee that their prices are lower than ordering from any place in japan or even the US. they just have alot more access to parts and motors over there from asia.

Something no one has done is a VE swap into a 240. There are some technical issues to work out with the VE motors, but it would be interesting.

My friend just got a swap done on his 240... however the shop that did it really screwed him. We've been working with the car for 2 days now and its barely driveable now. The shop he had it done at is going to catch hell for this.

As I've always said, enjoy that car! :) They are such awesome cars and you got a pristine one.

That sucks. Why not do the swap yourself? I think overall it's cheaper to buy the cherry picker and engine stand and do the work yourself than it is to pay for the labor. Plus it's a learning experience. Most swap info you can get online. Just DL and follow the instructions.

One thing we did encounter w/ the SR20DET swap was the gauges didn't work. For some reason, the tach didn't work. I wound up pulling out the japan spec tach module and swapped it onto the US spec cluster. Works like a beauty. Plus you have the correct redline of 7.5K. :) Anyways, whatever you do keep us posted.

A VE would be too heavy. You have to remember we want to keep the weight down and maintain the f/r weight distribution...I'm sure a heavy VE would tamper with the handling. And if I am going to put a V6..why not go for the VQ engine?? A 3L or even a 2.5L VQ from Japan?

Personally I think I should just stick to 20 hamsters in 20 wheels..more than enough power..and cheap on gas (unless hamster food is expensive!)

Man, for a while I wanted to get a 97/98 really bad, but then I came to terms with the price and said forget it... I'll wait till I have more cash :D I love those cars, they're what the Preludes shoulda been. Too bad they never brought a turbo stateside though, doesn't matter, I'd be going for a swap if I ever bought one :D
