<< In America, if I am walking down the street and I see a guy about to die because of a piano thats falling from above, and I fail to say "Hey, watch out", I'm not liable for anything. Nada. Zippo. Jack squat. >>

False. Thoes good sumaritan laws exist in many states.

They were dumb kids resorting to violence. I hope they are not too harsh with the sentencing. It could make them more dependents of the system, accomplishing nothing.

<< I am sure that the law has been discompassionate in this case. Zach deserves a great deal of reeducation and probably some jail time the other's.... I don't know but 10+ years in an adult prison will make them nothing more than rape victims. How will this help them? How can Mrs. Hill consider this justice? The condemnation of three children to have all dreams shattered and the almost certain doom of rape and other sexual abuse. Truly sad. The judicial system has great power to do good... I question whether this is an example of it. >>

What the hell are you smoking man? "oh, those poor little kids, going to prison for 10 years... waaaaah... pooor them... waaah, they're gonna get raped in jail... waaah....". Give me a freakin' break. They should be beaten to death themselves, that would be the right way to take care of the situation. Unfortunately our legal system is too soft on them :| At the very least, I'd have them tossed in jail until their victim is brought back to life -- in other words, forever. That kind of scum - the kind that would use baseball bats to bash someone's skull in - should not be tolerated in society.

A man is dead regardless of the ages of the boys their punishment will hardly be what they dished out that fateful day. You ask "How will this help them?" I ask "Do they know they are going to Hell twice? Their personal guilt and gang rapes during their lives, then after their life burning in Damnation." they will get what they deserve.

to the guy posting this... need to pick your friends better

Millenium, I don't mean to be cruel, but perhaps you need to choose your friends from a different crowd. Hanging around with people like these thugs could have gotten you in trouble, too, if you'd just been with them that night.

Dude - I don't mean to be a d!ck, but these guys deserve exactly what they got. In Texas, a couple may have received the needle for this. ...and they would have deserved it.

They beat another human being to death with aluminum baseball bats. One clipped him in the leg, and the other clocked him on the dome. When you hit someone in the melon with a aluminum friggin' baseball bat, you kind of assume that he had the intent of causing grievous bodily harm which could result in death.

From the article, it seemed as though these lil' a-holes had a pretty cavalier attitude about the whole trial. Talking on cell phone, necking with girlfriends. This whole experience seemed like little more than a supreme inconvenience to these guys.

I guess that attitude has changed now. They can think about why killing another human being is a bad think for the next 40 years.

<< Your friends got what they deserved. Sounds like out of control punks... No respect for anything.

<< The defendants, who had been free on bail, were cool during jury deliberations Friday. Jeremy Cain paced the floor talking on a cell phone. Both brothers necked with their girlfriends. >>

That's nice. The world is a better place.

Agreed

First of all, I'd like to say to Millenium that I'm sorry you know ANYONE involved in such a situation. It is definitely a strange, sad feeling.

That being said, I wouldn't even refer to them as "friends" anymore. FORMER friends, maybe, but anybody I know does something like that, they ain't my friend.

To harass someone on their own property, then beat him, is just plain sorry. And over some dents in a car? Please. That might call for being pissed with someone, but it doesn't warrant bringing out baseball bats.

These punks deserve to get nailed to the wall, max penalty. Their young age is irrelevant. It makes it that much more of a shame, but should have no bearing on their sentence.

I bet that one kid wailing in the court for mommy had just pictured himself as Big Bubba's next cell mate.

Sad all the way around, but they chose their own paths.

My condolences to the Hills.
