LOL If this isn't Christian hatred taken to the extreme I don't know what is.

I thought I'd heard it all when some freak in New York defaced Catholic churches and statues because he "hated Christians" (btw he was an illegal alien) and a liberal judge put him on probation instead of jail, but THIS takes the cake! lol

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,27826,00.html

It just goes to show how far some liberals will go to punish Christians for their religious beliefs. They will even punish other groups just to get at the Christians.

MY favorite quote from the article and it just proves my point about Liberals hating Christians:

"Some in the community are grumbling that it's political correctness run amok, or just plain stubbornness on the part of the board. When parents complained, one board member told the school newspaper, "Blame the Christians"""

LOL Classic

hehe I'm riding the middle Cant you tell? :D

I just think its hysterical how far people will take things to decriminate against another group. This reminds me of what Wallace did to keep African American kids out of "white" schools.

Ah shucks. When conservatives get their panties in a bunch they just blow up a couple abortion clinics, snipe a few doctors, hang out a few crosses, and burn people at the stake.

I think it's time for me to take a break from this board. All I've been seeing lately is mindless drivel and rhetoric. Prove to me that Liberalism is mutually inclusive of Christian-bashing and I'll prove to you that Conservatism is mutually inclusive of bigotted, mindless, uneducated, unintelligent, baseless assertions.

My guess is that a true christian wouldn't use the word "dickwad", eh?

Basically, unwarranted bashing and attacking is wrong, plain and simple. If it's liberals on the attack, it's wrong. If it's Rush Limbaugh, it's wrong. Now don't get me wrong -- honest bashing/attacking is perfectly fine. :)

I take it this is reverse sarcasm to counter the broad generalization of the original post...?
A true Christian would not condone violence - I certainly don't.

Lately OT has had a lot of very inflammatory/trolling threads started by fairly new people.

christian club? I guess I know it by its more common name....church.

i'm a christian, i don't think that religious clubs should be affiliated with public schools, you know, the whole seperation of church and state? i remember back in gradeschool when we'd say the pledge of alleigance there were 2 muslim girls who had to stand outside of the class because of the reference to GOD in the pledge, i always felt bad for those girls. maybe it shouldn't be done anymore?, maybe its not done anymore? who knows, but i live my life according to me, i make decisions in the best interest of those around me, including me.

solution to world problems: take 1/2 part taoism + 1/2 part catholicism = harmony
...works for me anyway

"must you value what others value, believe what others belive?..how foolish" -lao tze

Optimus, you should know me by now :)

Reductio ab absurdiem my friend. Reduce to the absurd. Fight fire with even hotter fire.

Every group has a black sheep. Conservatives just won't admit that the people I listed fall on their side of the line.

Yeah, I'd say the school board is way off base in screwing all the other kids out of their extracurriculars. Personally, I don't condone the idea of a christian club either (separation of church and state IMO), provided it is a public school. But I also don't condone the idea that all the other kids, who have common interests not related to curriculum, lose their ability to meet (convieniently provided by the sate) and share their ideas with an each other and an advisor. The greatest thing about extracurriculars is that it's productive, atleast 99.9% is, and it helps keeps some kids of out trouble, instead redirecting their energy into something positive.

This also kills the resume' builders that these clubs provide for graduating students trying to get into good colleges. Does it also mean that there'll be no sports, for them? 'Cause they sure aren't related to curriculum.

Hey, I'm a liberal and like I said, IMO a religious club doesn't have a place in a public school because there are places for that already (church) and IMO it's not allowed by separation of church and state. But, if a judge is going to rule that it does have a legal right to be there, then the school board should grab their nuts and bite their lips, and just let them in. I say make exceptions, or sacrifices (whatever you will) for the other kids getting boned out of this deal.

Just my $0.02

-Cheers

Liberals??

I would guess (and correctly so) that there are FAR more conservative religious people that bash Christians then there are liberals that do.

Far more.

as long as they stick to their guns and ban everybody, that's fine by me. However, I find their reasoning to be ridiculous. It's like they're saying that the Supreme Court's interpretation of the constitution is wrong, and theirs is right.

What makes the church groups think that they can get away with indoctrination in our public schools? They have all of society to go out and minister to the people; give our kids a break already!

There is a wonderful place to learn all about god, it is called a CHURCH. My kids attend services twice a week; they do not need to go to a "club" after school to reinforce their faith.

Tex: Some conservatives will do ANYTHING to bash liberals. This article is slanted heavily in favor of the church groups; even so, it does not play into your assumption that the persons on the school board are "liberals." Where in your mind does this connection come into play? If I were a satanist (which, for the record, I am not--those people are even more foolish than theists, IMO), would your church allow me to rent a room and hold services? Do you think your school should allow me to hold services?

It is just as likely that the religious or political convictions of the school board have nothing to do with the way they have handled this situation. You do not know how these members vote in general elections, and you do not even know if they are registered democrats. You just assume so because it makes your point, and furthers the conservative campaign in this country.
