Scribblenauts is awesome.
Any LEGO game (pick his favorite action/super heroes). I had a BLAST playing these with my kids when they were younger.

Brothers : A tale of two Sons

This game is probably a good test to see what he's made of. If he cries at the end, then he's normal, but if he just 'eh whatever..' then you know you have identified a sociopath early! ^_^

I noticed on Steam that Gauntlet is coming back... but it's a Mature title for the graphic gore. :(

...but let's face it - it's us guys who played it in the arcades 20 years ago that are most excited about it anyway!

Surprised no one said Garys Mod. Personally its not for me but kids seems to LOVE LOVE it. On steam for 10$ but you can find it for 2.50 occasionally.

You can try Injustice: Gods Among Us, it's a fighting game developed by the people that made Mortal Kombat. Many popular DC heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, just be sure to play with a gamepad as fighters don't usually work well with mouse and keyboard.

Not to mention the gore is at a minimum so this is a good vote.

show the kid the early games so then as you get newer and newr games he can appreciate how quality of games has improved. I sure do miss Quake 1 gaming.
