Discussion Some clarity regarding tampons in boys room

Via cnn fact check.
This keeps coming up so bookmark it

Walz and bathrooms: Trump claimed that Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, “signed a bill that boys’ bathrooms – all boys’ bathrooms in Minnesota – will have tampons.” But as PolitiFact has reported, the bill Walz signed in 2023 does not say “all boys’ bathrooms” will have tampons.

Rather, the bill requires that tampons be provided to “all menstruating students” in fourth grade through 12th grade in bathrooms students regularly use – and leaves it up to school districts to decide how to comply. Districts can, for example, provide tampons to transgender boys by placing the items in unisex bathrooms. A spokesperson for the state’s largest school district told Minneapolis’ Star Tribune newspaper earlier this month that it does not provide tampons in boys’ bathrooms, instead providing them in “nongendered bathrooms,” girls’ bathrooms and via health staff.

Even if there were going to be tampons in boys' bathrooms...

Conservatives are scared by the weirdest things.

They probably never did high school sports.
The "other gender" locker room becomes the "away team" locker room during sporting events.
Was also going to note this. I remember many an away swim meet where we (the boys) would be in the home team's girls' pool locker room, and the reverse would be true for girls teams during their swim season (which didn't overlap with the boys teams).

Something makes you think the boy's wouldn't empty the dispenser and flush them all at once?
What would stop someone from flushing too much toilet paper? The damage would be the same considering that flushing menstrual products would clog piping. It seems that the person that did that should be identified and punished, and that people should generally be taught to not be an asshole.

Maybe we also don't structure society and infrastructure in a way that defaults to an assumption that everyone is a jerk, lest everything look like a prison.

There was already that whole wave of kids just wrecking school bathrooms without the aid of tampons a few years ago (and maybe is still ongoing, I don't know).

It's a nice idea that works in limited circumstances. By and large it's a safe bet to assume the worst from people.

What makes you think the girls wouldn't do that?

What makes you think the immigrants wouldn't do that? What about the pedos posing as women in the girls' bathroom?

Aside from all of this, why on earth is a presidential candidate giving two flying fucks what boys *might* flush down in public toilets?

No wonder conservatives want to flush civilisation down the toilet at the soonest opportunity.

I wasn't aware that was the goal. I wonder why they would want to do that?

Some realise that's the goal and some don't. Some have an apocalypse fantasy, others are too dim to realise that garrotting public services will lead to the downfall of civilisation. Others believe that big-brain conservative fiscal policies (e.g. tax breaks, garrotting of public services) will make them so rich that the downfall of civilisation won't affect them.

I haven't heard any proposals to end public services. The desirability of tax breaks seems like it would be based on what the starting amount is and who gets the break. I don't think it can really be a blanket statement.

Many years ago while at a tennis clinic I rushed into the bathroom to mitigate an emergency. The bathroom was empty and while sitting I notice a box on the wall. I asked myself "what is this?" I opened it and got my answer. Fortunately I didn't immediately burst into flame but I did finish ASAP and get the hell out of there.

Did you make the right noise while running?

I see you've chosen the idea that we should have strive for a low trust society instead of a high trust society. Sounds pretty miserable.
We have that in many places. Look at pretty much all of the big box stores and how much product is under lock and key. In a few places stores and restaurants have closed because of employee safety concerns and parking lot theft.

I'm all about a trust based society, that's why I live in one. The local stores don't have products locked up, I never lock my truck, my neighbor leaves his garage door open most of the time when he's gone. It's great way to live, I wish everyone could do it.

so vote for people who promote policies to make that happen, instead of people who deal in fearmongering?
