I didn't even know the Metro 2033 benchmark existed until I read this thread. I thought I'd throw in some comparison benches.

Options: Resolution: 1920 x 1080; DirectX: DirectX 11; Quality: Very High; Antialiasing: MSAA 4X; Texture filtering: AF 16X; Advanced PhysX: Disabled; Tesselation: Enabled; DOF: Enabled

* Average Framerate: 27.67
* Max. Framerate: 106.71
* Min. Framerate: 6.77

Options: Resolution: 1920 x 1080; DirectX: DirectX 9; Quality: Very High; Antialiasing: AAA; Texture filtering: AF 16X; Advanced PhysX: Disabled; Tesselation: Not supported; DOF: Not supported

* Average Framerate: 40.67
* Max. Framerate: 156.03
* Min. Framerate: 8.67

Seems DX11 and DOF don't hit it as much as I thought. Looks like AA gets disabled in DX9 as well. This is on a Q9300@3.2 and 5870 Crossfire@stock. I have 7.1 sound, and I wonder how much that is weighing down my little quadcore. Looks like maybe I should have waited for the 6000 series.

Doesn't windowed mode disables Crossfire?

That would explain why I couldn't get it to work, I didn't know that.

To be precise, it did work, I ran the benchmark actually, but the frames were about half as the full screen mode, so you're probably right.

That's quite a good run! I get 16 min, 32 avg @ 1920x1080 without any AA, 32 bit, fullscreen, with my two 4870 @512mb and the processor at 3,2. Time to upgrade I see.

@ Skurge - I dunno about 64bit, it took 2 frames away from the averages, with and without AA. Also couldn't get it to work in windowed mode properly.
I don't know how you play some modern games at 1920x1080 with 4870 512mb crossfire. pretty much any newer game would exceed 512mb at settings that even one 4870 could run.

I just changed the monitor. I was running 1680x1050 and the I traded it for this. Even before I couldn't run Warhead with any AA, I had to disable motion blur but the rest was Enthusiast. It will go Enthusiast now also except for the train level and the last one, I have to set gamer for those, still no AA.

The experience isn't perfect if that's what you ask. I have worse stuttering in COP and the minimums for Crysis and Warhead have single digits sometimes.

That's why I am looking at 2x6850 or 1x6950 with the option of adding another 6950 down the road, probably after upgrading my entire platform.

I would have skipped the custom cooler and saved the money towards another 6950...
it looks okay though, certainly playable.

I was trying to keep it under 300$ but went over by 10$ not too bad I guess.

I want to run Stalker CoP with the exact settings that you and Guru used, but you know what? They aren't very specific and even a bit contradictory from one sentence to another.

Stalker CoP Settings:
Preset: Ultra
Renderer: Enhan. full dyn. lighting (DX11)
Video mode: 1920x1200

Advanced options:
MSAA: 4x
MSAA for A-tested objects: Off
SSAO Mode: HDAO
SAAO Quality: Ultra(CS version)
Use DX10.1: Unchecked
Enable tessellation: Checked
Contact Hardening Shadows: Checked

These are the settings I'll be using. Are these the same as your settings? I'm not even certain what level of AA your using.

Hey Keys,
Gimme a few minutes I will go check my settings when I get to my computer.

EDIT: Hey Keys,
I didn't use Guru3d for my CoP Benchmark comparison, I used ABT: The settings were:

"We ran this benchmark fully maxed out in DX11.0 with “ultra” settings plus 4xAA, including applying edge-detect MSAA which chokes performance even further. Here we present our maxed out DX11 settings for S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Call of Pripyat DX11 benchmark with 2xAA at 1920×1200:"

I don't quite remember if I used 4x AA or 2x AA - I will recheck it right now and post.

EDIT: Just reran the whole thing with the following settings, please use these to compare :) .

Hey! How about we make this our own benchmark thread? People can test their cards (overclocked or not) against each other in REAL games. All the other forums only bench with 3dmark which is plain useless IMO.

I don't mind, you guys can keep bringing benches with various games, settings, etc. I just like comparing the performance of my card with other people.

I am planning to revert the card back to a stock 6950 and record the difference in performance I got. I will be doing this sometime this week, the biggest drawback for me is that the computer thinks that the 6950 with stock BIOS is another card and I don't want to deal with any driver issues right now (If they were to arise as a result of me reverting my card).

I knew something was off with my Crysis bench :eek:

Currently working with Stock 6950 to compare the gains.

Test out 64bit and see the difference while your at it. Im sure my game was faster in 64bit.

Window Mode have a big performance hit. Those three you have posted there OP looks like a bottleneck somewhere.

6fps? WTF

To be quite honest I don't think it makes a difference once you overclock, your using afterburner right?

Yep im using afterburner. I have it at 20% not sure if i should put it back to zero. you sure those are the correct 2d speeds?
seesm like mine is 450/1250
