I was having random 'hang' issues. This could happen a few minutes, or a few hours after PC start-up. Got annoying because it happened during a few multiplayer sessions. The solution that I found from multiple places that worked for me:

1. Install F7 bios
2. Set bclk manually to 100.1 in the bios. (instead of 100)
3. Get new Realtek Audio drivers from Realtek website. (the drivers on the GigaByte cd are from January, and could be the main reason for the issues)

I have been stable since then. No crashes for over 4 days. You may not need to do all these steps, but upgrading bios and getting new audio drivers is definitely a good idea. Hope this helps.

I have almost the same system as you have,

But I have the
3570k
Antec H2O 620
16GB Veagence 1600
EAH6870

And wondering if this MOBO will workfine or not...

I had some instability initially with the shipping BIOS of F4. Quickly flashed to F6 after I got the system up and running and oddly enough the system was more stable with my Overclock then it was at stock, but still some random freezes and reboots.

F7 cured all my issues. I have been running it since it was released late last week and have used the rig everyday since then without issue. I have even put it back to stock to verify that it was straightened out and it was fine.

As far as the bios settings, all I have changed at this point are CPU multi to 45 and Vcore to 1.25, and disabled the IGPU. I have not touched the BCLK at all, and I had to activate the XMP profile for my RAM to get 1600 7-8-8-24 @ 1.5V. Board ran it @ 1333 9-9-9-24 default I believe.

Hope that helps.

Hi guys,

I was reading at the Gigabyte's community and the people from there say that these freezing and lockups only happen when you are doing nothing at the PC, like browsing in the BIOS or just in the Desktop. But it hardly (or never) happens when you are playing a game, or using programs such as Prime95.

Do you too?

Mine would freeze in bios or windows on the older bios versions, but again, its been rock solid since F7

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thead. My GA-Z77X-UD3H with an
i5-3570 has been picked up at MC and my daughter is sending it to Alabama. The boards are very similar and the problems and answers will help me find my solutions. I will stray from the RAM being used by most here. I ordered some 1600 but with 1.35V rather than 1.5V. Crucial list it for this board and the person at Crucial indicated that an overclock might work well by raising the voltage to "1.5V". It has been a long time since I have built a system (5 years) so I have been lost as Hogan's goat for the last few days or reading. I been screwing up computers since the middle 80's and after my 1st XT I never owned a computer for more than 6 months until this one. My time has been short so I just used computers for work and some net stuff. I recall in the early OC days I would tell people (even the comuter geeks) about changing CPU voltage and clock rates or multipliers and they all thought I was crazy or kidding. In any event I may return to the forum after a LONG vacation. I posted under another name but no one would remember and passwords and e-mail are long lost and things are so different I feel like a complete noobie anyway. I hope when I run into some problems I can work it out but I may need to ask some dumb questions.

In the meantime, songokussm, revise the thread title to remove "[Solved]" -- your proposed solution is putting people through numerous unnecessary steps that were your early insurance policy against lockups, and mere guesses. Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I happen to share some of the major components as the OP –
Intel i5-3570k
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H
OCZ OCZ750FTY 750W

Everything was fine until I installed my new PSU the OCZ OCZ750FTY 750W
I was able to overclock up to 4700 with the stock cooling and be on stable with PassMark results at 10403.8 for CPU and 3340 for Memory
The minute I introduced the OCZ750FTY I got random shutdowns and later loop in the boot process. I ordered a PSU replacement from NewEgg and the same goes with the second OCZ750FTY now. I opened support cases with OCZ and Gigabyte for this issue. I ran all the tests possible for me with 2 other MB Asrock and Asus both the latest Z77 and they are fine with that OCZ750FTY. For the other tests I plugged two separate lower wattage PSUs to the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H and the system worked just fine and behaved very stable.

I now followed OP advise and disabled the C3/C6 State Support (When C1 is enabled, the CPU core frequency and voltage will be reduced during system halt state to decrease power consumption. The C3/C6 state is a more enhanced power-saving state than C1.) and now the problems I had before are all gone, the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H is back to stable with the OCZ OCZ750FTY 750W. I’m going to report that with the cases I opened with the manufacture’s support. I had to share this with you in case there are others with similar problems or have another high power PSU (750W and above) that causes system stability or nonoperational at all. Again disabling the C3/C6 State Support in the Bios helped this time to bring the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H to a stable state.

Hi, there is a question for everyone:

Does this problems started after or before you install the Windows? on a SSD or HDD?

And, have you tried Linux? Got the same problem?

Thank you.

I've been running the UD5H and 3570K for 2.5 weeks now and not a single hiccup. I've put a lot of time into playing Diablo 3 since then, everything is running great. My guess for my good fortune is using officially approved/tested RAM for this exact model.

My build of 3770K on the GA-Z77-UD5H has been a a piece of cake, not a single issue has surfaced in the two weeks since it was assembled. I am running 16GB of Crucial Ballistic Sport PC1600 cas 9, Gigabyte Gtx 670 and a Samsung 830 128GB SSD. It is very cool at 4.2GHZ with a CM 212 EVO heatsink. So far great combo.

@songukussm
So I have been diligently following your threads online regarding the restart & Lockup issue's for your Gigabyte GA Z77X UD5H.

I have have GA Z77X UD5H WB(sans the wifi the boards are same)

So it looks like the Beta Bios F8a did the trick for you? As far as I see you haven't updated yet, Has it solved your issue?

I am too frustrated and writing this only after browsing all possible solution to this dismay :-(

Awaiting your response anxiously.

My build:

I5 3570K @ 4.0 / Antec H2O 620 / EAH6870 / GA-Z77X-UD5H / Crucial M4 128GB / Sansung 1.5T / Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 4x4GB / Seasonic 620W S12ii /

And I have random blue screen, it happens in about 4~6 hours and only when I am doing nothing at the computer or just away from it.
Never happens when I am playing.

I ran Prime95 for 40 minutes, full load 4 cores, and 15.1 GB of the RAM (94%).
No problem, all stable.
It's stable even when I am at the Autocad.

Weird, before that system I had an intel Celeron G550, 4GB kingston and no ssd and was stable, never had a single blue screen.

Well, for while, this blue screens are not big deal because happens when I don't care. I will be happy by playing with no blue screen.

The blue screen says:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1046

Additional information about the problem:

I am using the F4 BIOS, I will only change when they REALLY fix it

I purchased a Z77 UD3H and UD5H. Both suffered serious Bios issues to the point that I had to return them both. I mean, cmon, how is an OC stable in Windows but not in the Bios. Everytime I needed to enter the bios I had to clear the CMOS and reload my profile.

I got the same setup and had initial shutdowns

This was my first build I used

3570k
UD5H motherboard
Evo212 Cooler
Antec 750watt PSU
1600 Mhz vengeance RAM

At first it was doing random reboots and freezing without any overclock. I could not even get windows to update without a freeze.

Somehow I fixed it by either or all of the following steps

1) overclocking to 4.5 Ghz and increasing voltage to 1.34 volts
2) connecting the additional power cable to board
3) setting LLC to extreme

Other than that bios settings are default.

Interestingly when I first overclocked to 4.5 Ghz using 1.320 volts it would freeze in game (Arma and FSX) but pass benchmarks.

I increased voltage to 1.340 and it is completely stable. Temps peak in the 80 s on Intelburn so I bumped volts up to 1.345 for total stability.

I think it's a great board for the 3570k just make sure you connect the extra power cable and bump up the voltage a bit.

Set the bclk to 100.1 and that should resolve the stability issue. Gigabyte implemented this workaround on their latest bios update.

So just put together my new system and I am having a terrible time of sorting out all of the bugs. I have never had this much trouble before. I am at your mercy anandtech guru's :)

Specs:
OCZ OCZ750FTY 750W
Intel i5-3570k
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H
CORSAIR Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600 CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9
Patriot Wildfire 120GB PW120GS25SSDR
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD7850 2GB 11200-00-20G

First off unless stated this is all stock, no overclocking, no voltage changes, all bios defaults.

Problem 1: System keeps locking up. A complete freeze. If I press and told the power button, it takes about 10-20 seconds for it to turn off. The reset button has no effect. Everything is stock. No overclock, bios is updated with defaults, fresh install of windows with only drivers.

Solved: 1.) Activate internal intel graphics.
2.) set pck clock to 101 instead of auto
3.) Turn off c6/c3 in the cpu advanced features

Im using gigabyte z77x-d3h with gigabyte ati 7850 graphic card. Im having the same issue while playing diablo 3 and watching movie. you mentioned that "set pck clock to 101 instead of auto" i dont know what is pck and cant find it.

Hence, i would like to ask if the "pck clock" is the image on following URL;

http://postimage.org/image/63k0drog7/

Thank you very much from your sharing.

Problem 2: The system will just turn off. Its like it detects a freeze and protects itself, but sometimes it happens with a quick trip to the bathroom, other times its a few hours, and upon my return my system is off. The management console gives no information on if it was a clean or dirty shutdown.

Solved: 1.) Activate internal intel graphics.
2.) set pck clock to 101 instead of auto
3.) Turn off c6/c3 in the cpu advanced features

Please forgive a newbee question, have never mess with BIOS before. How do you set pck clock to 101? I mean how do I get to it? I looked but no dice.

I'm having random shutdown (dirty) &/or reboots no matter what I do. Thanks

I received this motherboard three days ago.
I've done everything mentioned in this post for troubleshooting and repairs.
I'm still stuck at the splash screen just before bios starts. I have to reset the CMOS if I want to make any adjustments.
I can't install windows because I can't get To the part where I install windows.

Do I simply return this to Newegg, or Is there something else I can try?

There are new BIOS updates, check them out.

Somehow my problems are "solved" I got once per month a freezing but its not big deal. I didn't update my BIOS, only did what the post creator said.

But I wonder if the new BIOS [14/F15(Beta)] really solve this problem, without having to change anything.

Anyone tryed?
