Finally saw an advertisement and checked it out at pontiac.com.

2.4 177 hp, meh its a small car I figure thats not bad. Im thinking to myself at least the gas mileage will be good.

20/28

The G6 3.5 gets better gas mileage than the Solstice!? (22/32)

My next car will remain Japanese, I tried to give american a chance.

Grasping at straws to find a problem with it?

20 mpg in the city for a 2.4 that puts out a measly 177hp? My celica gets like 28 - their g6 v6 which is 35% bigger gets 22.... see a problem yet?

Whats so bad with this rating? It's most likely the gearing, same reason the tC uses the same engine as the Camry which gets 33MPG yet the tC gets 29 with the Manual and 30 with the Automatic. So its 1MPG less then a tC with the manual, and 17 more HPm sounds ok to me. I am by no means putting down the tC either, I have one and love it. Just putting it into perspective for you. Your saying how that sucks cause its american, the tC is japanese and its about the same ball park for MPG, slightly higher, but the Solstice has more HP too.

Your looking for a reason to hate it, this really isnt one of them.

No, because I don't give a rat's ass about gas mileage. It's called gearing, the G6 is geared towards a commuter car, and the Celica isn't much better. The Solstice is geared to be a zippy car that probably buzzes like crazy at highway speeds, because it's not built to go back and forth on the freeway.

at that price, ~$20k, why not. We hit a local Pontiac dealership just to get a closer look and they said it wouldn't be out on the floor till Sept/Oct. And that dealership already had 400+ orders for it. The price is very attractive for a roadster. They're only making a limited amount, so I guess that adds to the appeal.

TBH I am not terribly impressed with the Tc's 22/29 rating either. The vehicle isnt exactly quick. Am I just spoiled by the celica's gas mileage? Maybe. Will it affect my future purchases? Definately.

Do you think the Saturn will have a better gas mileage rating. It is rated at 7hp less, maybe for beter economy?

You think the Solstice will be faster than the Celica GT-S?

EDIT: The base charger weighs 1000 more lbs and has 80 more hp and gets 1mpg less. Even the Daytona r/t model is 17/25. I dont think its horrible for me to expect better mpg from a 2800lb roadster.

Its the same engine in the same car with 7 less hp????

The sky has a retractable hardtop, i'd imagine the weight from the mechanics of that took off a horse or two

The weight took hp... ?

the redline has 254hp.

correct for more hp

I thought the Redline was just a concept- as far as I know there are no plans to manufacture it yet (this was a few months back though, might have changed).

EDIT: Yeah, it looks like they're going to introduce a GXP Soltice and a Redline Saturn 6 months after the Sky debuts.

"6 months after the production of the Saturn SKY, GM will introduce a Saturn SKY Redline, which will be powered by a turbocharged 253HP 2.0L Ecotec engine."

i was surprised at the low MPG for the standard model.
wonder how bad gas mileage will be on that thing.
