Common sense says if you get paid in cash before you send anything then the deal is legit (on his end). Just make sure (as others have mentioned) it is cash .. not MO not Check not some sort of promise to send you cash, or whatever. Be very clear that you will not send anything until you have legal US tender physically in your hands, and you are not going to send him anything or give him any further personal information before that happens.

Simple.

Actually guys, if he sends you a Western Union money transfer, there's pretty much no way it can be reversed. I have worked with WUs for a couple of years so I know a thing or two about 'em 😉 Once he sends your transfer, all you have to do is go to a grocery store or some place that does Western Unions and you will physically have cash (for high amounts you will get a Western Union-branded check which will be paid out no matter what) in your hands.

Money orders? different story. Western Union sells money orders too, but money orders are commonly forged by scammers.

The danger with Western Union is when you are buying something, since if it's a scam you have no ground to stand on, because of this very principle of not being able to reverse it. But if you are the seller then it's fine.

Yay! Someone with a lick of literacy and comprehension 😉

It's pretty much the most guaranteed method if you are recieving funds, once you get it from WU, there is no way they can reverse it, other than the old "I sent too much, send me back the remainder"

scam. What if he's a suspected terrorist, can you imagine what might happen to you? I would run far away and open up a bakery or something safe.

Actually, as a seller, receiving payment by WU is the best (short of simply receiving cash of course) method of payment. Once you go to WU and collect the payment, there is no risk of chargebacks etc, all the risk is on the buyer's side.

Can people not read or something? He's RECEIVING from WU, not sending. It should be safe for you, but make sure you have the actual cash in your hand before sending it off.
