Nintendo is relying too much on their first party titles to sell the Gamecube. Xbox was smart to release their Live program to set itself apart from others.

"Nintendo is relying too much on their first party titles to sell the Gamecube. " I agree, more games dammit!

" Xbox was smart to release their Live program to set itself apart from others. " Why? didn't the dreamcast have online play years ago? Yes, I fail to see what is so innovative. My bet is online consoule gaming won't take off like most predict.

With the number of Live Kits already sold, what would constitute as "taking off" for you?

Well, regardless, I'm always going to be an N-fanboy. Gonna fire up the Famicom right now. ;)

The DC did have an online adapter... But how many games other than Phantasy Star took advantage of it? (Any???)

dreamcast's online was kind of like PS2's online - crap. Xbox has done it from the ground up with a large structured network and it has a significant amount of support. When Halo 2 and Counterstrike Zero come out the "which console do I get" will be more clear than ever.
