Nintendo isnt going to go anywhere. Their sales are still strong, and keep in mind theyre not #3 in japan. Japs buy a lot of game, especially nintendo games. Then youve got the GBA, pokemon etc.
As long as the GC is profitable (which it certainly is), it will always be around.
Besides, nintendo keeps HUGE cash reserves for occasions like this.
GC seems to be a love it or hate it affair. Lots of gamers act like theyre too cool to play it cause its games are for kiddies. (Yes, Ive actually had several people tell this to me) I guess games that dont involve killing everything in sight or trying to imitate realism are going out of style...its a shame. I figure a little imagination never hurt anybody, something that the Xbox is SORELY lacking.

Xbox aint got a thing but halo, and sports games. Halo is great, but it aint gonna get me to buy a system. Zelda, Metroid, Mario and Fzero has me lining up.

A lot of my friends have the impression that gamecube is meant for kids. As much as I try to make them think different they won't. So I gave up. I'll keep my Metroid playing and watch when they walk in the room and go nuts when they watch me play it.

Its a shame. The problem as I see it is not that nintendo is losing fans, just that theyre not getting enough new ones.
Back in the day, consoles were mostly for kids. Adults didnt play the snes OR genesis. The playstion was the system that really broke into the adult market. Face it, the playstation was the most mainstreamly accepted console ever, aside from possibly the PS2.
Nowadays, so many more people play games, people that would have never touched a console. You wont get ridiculed by your friends for playing a playstation like you would for playing a SNES 10 years ago. The xbox is all cock and balls. I can definitely see why it appeals to americans.
The average joe thinks video games = playstation just like all PDAs are palm pilots, all copiers are xeroxes... However...all portable systems are gameboys.
If nintendo would make an attempt to change their image next console theyd have a chance, but Id rather they didnt. Thatd just be selling out.
GC is the next system for me. They have a handful of good games that would keep me busy for years.

I have an idea! Let's pull our software support and then bitch about lagging hardware sales.
For what its worth, I think the predictions of the GameCube's demise is greatly exaggerated. Unless you're a complete fanboy its impossible to not name at least a few games for each platform that make the console worth owning.

Resident Evil is pretty much the only game exclusive to the Gamecube that interests me in the least. Mario, Zelda, Metroid... Well, they do nothing for me.
I guess Mario Cart might be interesting, also.

And the software forum is for PC software. What the hell is your problem anyway? Why don't you post in every E3 thread "go post in the right forum", or every "XBox vs PS2" thread?
I haven't gotten one of the newer consoles yet... I'm waiting to see what happens with the new Nintendo bundle. My thread on it here. Yes its a shameless plug .
Before I buy a new console, I need to have at least 10 games I would definitely enjoy playing repeatedly. To me the Xbox has like two Halo and MechAssault, but MechAssault is kinda pointless without XboxLive. Which in turn requires broadband that isnt availiable in my area for another five months if not more. So I've kinda abandoned the XBox.
Gamecube I've got currently eight on my list: Metroid Prime, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle, Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball 2, Super Smash Bros Melee, Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur 2.
With the following "maybes": Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, Ikaruga
For the PS2: Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy X, Grand Turismo 3 A-spec or Grand Turismo 4?, Kingdom Hearts,

Soul Caliber 2 is on the XBox also. SSBM is really a crappy game. (I had it - it blew goats compared to the 64 version)
XBox you also need to put Halo 2, Brute Force, Splinter Cell, (multiplatform now) Rallisport Challenge, etc etc. Different strokes for different folks though.

last wednesday, fedex express, only way newegg offers (for cheap). arrived less than 20 minutes from my house last friday(fed-ex terminal) scheduled for delivery today (both packages) on gets here at about 1, other never shows. its ~9 now.
