1 pc is xp, 1 is vista. & 2 laptops are vista. I will not upgrade any OS that's for sure. Only way that happens if I buy a new machine with it pre-install.

I think I am going to upgrade both my machines just a bit after it comes out. I'll see how the initial reaction goes. I'm using the beta on my main rig, and netbook, and love it.

i have glass with XP MCE SP4, sure it takes a third party program, but it works fine, and makes gives XP the only thing i prefer Vista over XP in...

dont get me wrong, i do like Vista, it's just still too young, and XP SP4 is so stable, and that's really important to me because i dont enjoy reinstalling my OS every few months like i used to in my younger days. W7 looks promising though, i'll give it a couple years to mature and then i'll move to it, pretty much skipping Vista all together, i installed it, kept it for about a month and then went back to XP MCE.

except vista's media center is a lot better than XP's, and windows 7 media center is even better than vistas.

this is true, i dont really use media center enough to justify running vista though, maybe if i had a better display... i run two 21" 4:3's each at 1280x1024, so watching widescreen movies involves either using only one of the monitors, or a bar down the middle *sigh*

if i had a big nice display it would probably be worth it, but i dont...so it's not...

XP + XBMC > VMC or Win 7 MC, no contest. Why anyone would use the stock media center in any Windows OS is beyond me.

If Deus Ex 3 sucks then I will give up on PC gaming.
If I give up on PC gaming I will run Linux.

The only good reason for me to use Windows is the games. For everything else I can easily settle for a free OS.

If Deus Ex 3 rocks I will play it a couple times and then probably switch to Linux.
Heh I got a text file of quotes from here over the years...

If ES:4 stinks, I may just give up video games entirely. Perhaps start dating, get married, and buy a yard with a dog named Skip and a white picket fence.
Sorry if I offend anybody, thats just the way I feel about the situation.

I take it ES:4 didn't stink? 😀

I'm staying with Windows Vista
Vista Sucks!
I'm sticking with XP.

You know what?
Screw that.

We need a 64 bit DOS.

You can get a 64 bit command line in any *nix OS. 😛

Me, I'm sticking with my goal of Linux only my main machine. There are a few apps that have to run under windows, though most will run under an XP VirtualBox. Unfortunately, USB isn't supported in the OSE of Virtual Box.

But it is supported in the free for personal use edition. So unless you are using it in a company, just use their free edition and not their open source one.

Vista is infinitely more stable than XP ever was or could be

I've been meaning to buy a new motherboard for awhile, I'll probably use Windows 7 as my excuse to upgrade.

Yep I have been eyeing several DDR3 kits 😉

Obviously not.

It wasnt AWESOME! Thats for darn sure. But I did play it a lot. Every time I though I would give up on PC gaming they released another expansion, and I was back in the game. But it didnt really impress me, and now Deus Ex 3 is the only one left. I dont care about Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3. There wont be a KOTOR 3, at least not any time soon. They will never make another good D&D game, I know this in my heart. And no RTS or Shooter is going to keep me interested enough to make sure my gaming PC is high end.

I think Win7 is suppose to be released in JAN 2010, so I will probably buy it sometime next year.

Going to OEM around August so they have time to get it on pc for the holiday season. Retail for public is probably September.

There really is not much left to do to 7 except bug and driver fixes.

I have two computers in our office. Both are shared by me and the wife. This computer has Vista, the other computer has Win98. The Win98 machine does *EVERYTHING* that we want it to do: email, word processing, surfing the net. While I recognize that some people want to be up to the minute in technology (or drive the fanciest, shiniest, spot-free cars, or whatever their preference is in life), I really have no reason to stay that updated with technology at home. So, this Vista machine will probably still be right where it's at, 8 years from now. I don't game, so I don't need any upgrades to it.
