To assume the entirety of a nation's success based solely on godliness/godlessness would be folly. There are obviously many other factors at play, such as personal freedom and economic freedom.

Read your history. A good portion of the found fathers were deists, which is just a stones throw from atheism. That's why "God" doesn't appear anywhere in the Constitution. And I'm glad... state-sponsored religion is as bad or worse as state-sponsored atheism.

This country was founded by men who believed in a philosophy that determined there existed good as well as evil.

The basis of Liberty, equality of men, God-given human rights...try reading writings of the founders of the Constitution...

also read the Declaration of Independence:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them...... that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights

while it doesn't necessarily refer to any specific religion, it refers to some existence of a higher power

True, but also the Declaration of Independence isn't a governmental document. It was really a letter written to the King of England telling him to go fvck himself.

It compares the social peformance of relatively secular countries, such as Britain, with the US, where the majority believes in a creator rather than the theory of evolution.

It is a flawed study, if that is their base for their research, but it would be interesting if this leads to further more viable, scientific research on the subject. The research must be broader in scale. It should have a full scale sample set to really be able to claim this, even pulling historic facts which actually go against this theory. (Roman Empire was a huge government (mainly secular, except in tradition)m but did many horrible things) But I digress. It is obvious from that statement alone that this study is flawed. I truly hope this leads to more funding into research on this topic though.
