I was reading about the French skiers who took all three medals: http://news.yahoo.com/france-earns-1st-ever-sweep-winter-games-event-122041477--spt.html and how they may have been wearing illegal gear which would potentially cause them to lose their medals. Of course I can't seem to find anything on it now. :hmm:

KT

Edit: looks like it was dismissed: http://globalnews.ca/news/1167080/canada-appealing-results-in-mens-skicross/

The french will keep their medals.

The complaint was dismissed.

I saw an article on this on CBC this morning

its funny the way the u.s. tried to rig the medal count by introducing fake sports like "slopstyle", "ski halfpipe" and "team skating" and by trying to cheat at skating judging and it didnt work. there were so many american fails at this olympics. i hope they dont let bodie miller come back, he did so bad [again] that they had to invent a new olympic medal just for him--"tied for third"

The Russians ended with the highest medal count (33) gaining about a 100 percent increase from their average in 2010 (15), 2006 (22), 2002 (13). Home field advantage was a little too good for them. Although Italy saw a big increase in Turin, the US and canada each saw only small bumps in home field advantage from their Olympics.

(reference to a Canadian hockey TV ad)

Winning gold in men & women hockey + winning gold in men & women curling = Canadian version of a tennis Grand Slam. In Tim Hortonese, we'd call this a Double Double. 😉 If we won no other medals, that would still be a successful Olympics. 😀

Congrats Canada!

You definitely had the best team this go-around.

It would have been an honor to get our asses kicked in the Finals instead of Sweden if the tourney ran a different way. Silver would have been better than nuttin'. 🙁

Canadian men put on a defensive clinic all tournament long.
Unreal.

Yay for a great Olympics for Canada 😀

Much better Olympics than the disaster in Vancouver. Congrats to the Russians for knowing how to put on an event.

Uhhhh...almost everyone says that Russia was not as prepared as Vancouver and wasted a large percent of its budget on graft. The only problem I remember with the Vancouver games is that there really wasn't any snow in the Cypress Mountains for some events there. Considering the truly shitting skiing in Sochi, Russia sure didn't win with snow quality.

Vancouver had the death of an Olympic athlete, poor conditions, voided tickets, disorganized events (biathlon?), and riots in downtown Vancouver.
