I just got a new phone with them and am not familiar with their features.
Curious about the texting thing..

what's so special about text messaging anyway? it's a phone, why not use it to call people?
Ah, yeah that's what I figured... Sprint's website is also pretty vague about the whole thing. I suppose when they have full SMS support they'll have s new ad campaign to go with it.Originally posted by: ZePHyRaNTHeS
Only certain new phones have the SMS capabilities. Sprint is still working on getting the system up and running to. Unfortunately, they won't have software upgrades for all phones so they can have SMS. :frown:

with their new SMS you need a new phone... sprint's current phones cannot do SMS. and yes they do support full SMS, but I think it's limited in most areas
I switched to T-Mobile myself 1.5 years ago,Originally posted by: GTaudiophile
You should have asked here first. I HATE Sprint and the lack of real SMS was one of the many reasons I switched to T-Mobile.
TMO + SE T610 + T9 = SMS at its best.

Sprint IS implementing MO-SMS (SMS directly from the handset). That's why Vision has been screwy lately. If you goto the website and log-in you'll find that under online tools you can no longer find your shortmail inbox and right now you can't even message people when you're logged in. Current phones that support SMS include the Treo 600, Sanyo VM4500, Nokia 3588i, and Samsung Vi660. I don't know for sure if the other two RL phones support MO-SMS. I know that no upgrades will be offered to enable this functionality on other phones. The service has already gone live in some markets (tho only partly functional) and is expected to go live beginning of February. Those people with the phones I mentioned who currently have Vision will be grandfathered in with unliminted free SMS while those who get SMS capable phones after launch will pay extra for it (it will be a seperate option from Vision). Hope this helps
