Some background info....I built a dual opteron dual core machine using a tyan s2877 mobo. It worked great for about a week when it all of a sudden died and wouldn't do anything. After hassling around with Tyan i got an RMA, and now where we are today is I have the fixed mobo and on their packing slip/repair report the problem states "Transitor Burnt out, replaced transitor"
I have everything disconnected from the motherboard except for the core things to turn it on. I have a speaker connected but there is no beeps even with the memory all removed. I've tried just running one processor and swapping each one for the other. I don't have any others to try.
The last thing i did was take the heatsink off and turn the PC on and the processor started to get warm so i shut it off.
I'm using a PCI card for video and not getting any display yet it was working before. I have a PCI-E card to try but I have to wait till monday to get a DVI adpater then i can totally confirm there is no POST even though I'm not getting any error codes.
Do you think my CPU's could have been both fried from the problem that was repaired on the mobo?
Sorry for the long post, thanks for the help
