So why does the army has no problems with alcohol, but strictly prohibits something as harmless as....

They are both cannabis. Hemp is simply a male cannabis plant. It is caused since the grower did not separate the males and females, and seed was brought forth. This varies from hops because hops is only an ingredient in the beer. Beer is processed, and is physically addictive, making it a hard drug. Weed, on the other hand, is only the bud from the cannabis plant. A hemp plant simply did not produce bud, since it is a male, not a female plant.

I'm fully aware of that, lol. I'm the last person that needs an education on MJ. Hemp is still different from the use of smoking it. Why do most people on ATOT want it legalized? Is it because the awesome clothes it makes? :)

Let's be really honest here. All of you guys really only want it legalized because you like to get high. lol Seriously!

Far from the truth. Some of us care more about the potential positive uses of both the plant and drug. I'd love for it to be readily available for everyone with back injuries, migraines/chronic headaches, to the more serious pain disorders.
Hell, also I'd love for it to be available for when I retire from the Army, or if the Army in its infinite wisdom decided it was legal to use off-duty, I'd probably take it up for headaches and body aches, because my body has grown so used to OTC pain relievers that it's almost pointless for me to even take them, let alone expect relief. Back problems run in my family, so I expect that when I'm older too.

If legalized, it'd become a more natural thing in society too. Just like tobacco is something used frequently during the day for mild energy (at first - then just dependence), alcohol is more for the evening, or at least, after work for those that work in the evening and sleep in the day. Weed would become accepted and not accepted based on usage patterns, just like alcohol is accepted but looked down upon for use before noon, unless of course you're on vacation or on a boat. ;)
I believe it's only looked down upon at the moment because it's illegal. If it weren't illegal, it would grow to be accepted quite fast.

I'm not talking medical use. That's totally different. So you'd be just fine with legalizing medical mariijuana in all states and leave it at that?

Be perfectly honest, most people here are not arguing with me because they want to help cancer patients. I'm all for it's medical use. Never said anything different.

Either way, it is what it is...illegal. Just keep voting how you feel.

I never did get that logic. I can understand their stance about harder drugs. But isn't alcohol much more harmful to one's health than marijuana?
Booze makes you aggressive while weeds makes you lethargic. The Army wants aggressive soldiers.

Isn't alcohol a depressant?

No, I'd prefer it totally legal. Prescription use is not what weed should be, as its a natural plant that everyone should be able to grow too if they want to use it. Regulating medical use would be beyond retarded, because it's not something that is a cause for concern.
Now, making it fully legalized for medicinal use would be a step, but I'd rather it go beyond that at some point.

See, the reason being... marijuana has its ability to be used in just about every single way possible in terms of medical. It might be anti-tumorous, it can provide pain relief, it can relieve tension and stress, and it can relieve symptoms of anxiety. Those, sure, are 'medical', but you would likely not be able to get a prescription because it 'relieves stress'. But why not? Because that's dangerous and addictive to use it just for that? Far from the truth.
