So why didnt Mark Hamill's (Luke Skywalker) career skyrocket like Harrison Ford's?

Because he had a car accident shortly after the movies that really messed up his face and caused him to require lots of surgery.

Personally I think most people (myself included) didn't love star wars because of him. Really he was one of the worst actors in the original films IMO.

Harrison Ford was great in those movies and it showed clearly, then he landed Indiana Jones and the rest was history.

Even Carrie Fisher didn't have that many big roles after Star Wars.

Because the only thing he can do well is Joker's voice, and that's it. Harrison Ford is actually a decent actor for a variety of roles.

Yeah, but wasn't his whiny portrayal of Luke Skywalker the perfect lead-in for the whiny little brat that Hayden Christensen (and George Lucas) made Anniken Skywalker into?? Amazing, that it seems the bigger the pain in the ass little whiner bitch a person is, the more skill they have with the force!! :rolleyes:

Plus, while both had some experience before Star Wars, it looks (glancing quickly through their credits at IMDB) as though Mark Hamill's was pretty much all tv experience, while at least Harrison Ford had American Graffiti under his belt. Looks had something to do with it too, I'm sure. And sometimes, in Hollywood, it's simply a matter of luck.

Because no other action movies would have The Force. And without The Force, Mark Hamill's character was a big pussy. No one wants a wimpy action hero.

Hamill was actually 26 when Star Wars was made and he played a teenager.
He couldn't play a teenager anymore after the third Star Wars.

Exactly- he was in blockbuster after blockbuster. If Tom Selleck had been Indy (as originally planned), Harrison Ford might be hanging out with Mark and Carrie in the "washed up actors home right now.

Ford is a very talented actor though---so I only half believe that. Ford can pretty much play any intense character and make it cool.

Because Harrison Ford is actually a really good action actor and concentrated on roles that showcased that. Mark Hamill not so much. Honestly I thought he was a terrible actor. The worst in Star Wars. The revolutionary nature of the technology used to make that movie and the ground breaking special effects completely overshadowed what was a pretty pathetic performance by Hamill.

It was just unfortunate for Mark Hamill because IMO, Han Solos character was simply a lot more interesting and had a lot more depth than Luke Skywalker. Seriously, Solo was just a badass who could pull things off without relying on the force and had great lines and captivating scenes. By comparison Skywalker wasn't a very remarkable character script wise. In that regard, Solo's personality is very reusable across the spectrum of movies and Ford played the role perfectly.

Still, he certainly doesn't seem to be want of work. He seems to be doing a lot of voice acting over the years.
