What do your businesses do?

Also while your plan sounds good assuming everything works out, isn't the success rate for new businesses pretty low overall? I'd have to dig up the statistics but I thought I remember reading that 80% of all new businesses fail within 10 years or something. I'm not saying you are likely to fail, what I'm saying is your approach may not be for everyone. Anyone going into it would have to be comfortable with the risk. If their company failed, wouldn't they have been better off just getting a job in terms of money earned?

I will not say my business because I would like to keep it private, but it is not a typical business.

The statistic that 80% of businesses fail includes every corner pilate and java shop started by bored housewives. That fact is that most people who start businesses are stupid, that's why they fail.

I estimate I probably have a 80 - 90% chance of success and at worst, I would break even.

But getting a job is fine I guess, that is if you enjoy being bossed around and spending 75% of your waking hours working for 40 years.

And I post on AT a lot because I work from my computer, not because I have a lot of free time.

Not that I don't agree with you that working for the man sucks, but the average person sleeps 8 hours a day. There are 237 working days a year (factoring weekends, holidays, vacation and sick time). So most people work ~1896 hours a year and they are awake 5840 hours. So that brings it down to 32.46% of your waking hours spent working.

Your prize is probably 10 years off of your life.

Sweet, I imagine if you get paid overtime then 1500 hours of overtime can add up! I don't think I could handle working an average of 65 hours a week for a whole year though.

There were 6 - 100 hour weeks in there. Also, a few weeks of vacation in there not listed in those hours!

How exactly does the time it takes you to scan and read threads, then compose your delightfully insipid braggart responses not qualify as "free time?"

Two words: Multi-tasking.

I think you mean "one word, with a prefix."

Let me guess, your million dollar business doesn't require intelligence, grammar, or attention to detail?

Let me guess, you work day to day without the chance of becoming rich?
