btw, after I win, I'm going to buy the restaurant I work at part time and continue to work there..... until I've personally pissed off every customer I've grown to hate over the years 🙂 BTW, big winnings don't always change people... I know one guy in this area who won 26 mil a few years ago. Still a really nice guy. If you met him on the street, you wouldn't have a clue that he's loaded... He still plows his fields and plants corn... just has a bigger field now. (farmer more or less) And a bigger tractor.

and the winner will be laughing all the way towards the bank.

And then crying when they have blown it all in a couple years like most of them do.

At least they had fun

Really? Most large jackpot winners end up alienated from friends and family, and completely miserable within a decade. The problem is, most people have no idea that this will completely change their lives, and they keep trying to live just as they did before.

I like to see if I can buck that trend

That sucks, NJ or NY isn't even participating. that means I have to drive all the way to CT to purchase a ticket. Like a 30 min drive but that's still a pain in the arse 🙁

No matter how smart you are with the money, it wont change the fact that your friends and family will, for the most part, become assholes. Ask anyone who's become suddenly wealthy.

If, on the other hand, you have already accepted the fact that you'll most likely lose most of your friends, and you'll have to distance yourself from your family, you'll be fine. However, most people don't see this coming, and most people cannot accept it.
Speaking from experience?

Kinda.

Thanks for reminding me. I just told my mom to buy me 5 tickets since she works in DC.

If I won.... I'd put enough away for tuition, pay off my parent's debts, and then invest the rest.....

I would open a mortgage brokerage.

Buy a mansion and a yacht, change my name to Elmer Fudd and spend the rest of my life hunting rabbits.

I wouldn't have to worry about long lost friends and family coming out the woodwork because we'd be travelling all the time and most likely living in Australia.

Of course I'd throw the biggest frickin' AT get together the world has ever seen!

Would you be tempted to maybe pay.....RETAIL....for something???

:Q

Well first of all if a few people win that 250 gets cut down pretty quick 😛 (remembers Bruce Almighty hehe)

I only have contact with my two sisters, my mother and my father, the rest are dead or dont bother in my life. I would give them each a million, pay off student loans, and put the rest in an interest bearing account. I would drive the same PoS car, continue working, and finish up my education. If I started throwing money around right away the motivation to keep going might be a bit lacking.

Then again, I don't play lottery so ignore the above 🙂

I would still look for a good deal (e.g. buying Kirkland Hane's underwear just because it's comfortable and a good value) but I would probably be less frugal.

That is because of decisions that the person makes for their own. Just because you win $123980571982734098324 doesn't mean that you're required to turn into a huge dick or that family members are allowed to whack you in the back trying to get your money. That's the carnal nature of man. And it doesn't have to happen to everyone.

If anyone wants a ticket I'll buy you one and mail it to you at cost, no extra charges.

So $1 per ticket plus $0.37 postage, purchased from Oregon.

Quick pick only (where the computer chooses your numbers), non-credit card paypal accepted, PM me if you are interested. I can mail your ticket to you TODAY or whenever you want.

how many plays do you get per ticket ? 2 ?

$1 per pick.

Most do a $5 Quick Pick (where the computer randomly picks numbers)

I'll probably buy 2 quick pick's for $10, one from Jantzen Beach and somewhere else.

How I'd spend lotto earnings, if, say, I won $50 million (post-tax, or course).

$20,000,000 - Investment in steady growth mutual funds
$10,000,000 - To spread some joy to my family and friends
$10,000,000 - General savings and general spending - Food, clothing, etc
$5,000,000 - Donation to the Singularity Institute
$2,000,000 - For property and a decent sized house, furniture, home entertainment equipment, etc
$1,000,000 - Donations to various charities
$1,000,000 - Spend a year roaming the world and visiting all the places I've ever dreamed of going, and some I hadn't
$400,000 - Donation to the Libertarian Party, $20,000 per year for 20 years
$150,000 - To put together a top-notch in-house graphics design studio, fully digital
$125,000 - To build my dream car
$125,000 - To buy every music CD, movie, or other piece of media that I could ever desire
$120,000 - Cryonics Life Extension plan from Alcor
$80,000 - Investment in a Roth IRA; $2,000 per year for 40 years
