With all the SOCALers and car threads in off topic you would think this would have alot of interest :(

I talked to my bro yesterday, he's flying out there today to meet up with the Mazda crew. Car was shipped out a week ago or so.

Apparently, they were having some problems earlier this year with the new engine grenading, but the most recent version was on the dyno for a solid week with no problems so they're hopeful things will go well this weekend.

Well the forecast was RAIN for the entire rally and boy did it rain.

We were on our way on friday.. and it was 8pm and we barely had gotten out of L.A. so we turned back. Sorry no pics for that day.

On sat we left early and got there in about an hour (god bless no traffic)
We parked and this site greeted us:
Yum
It was awesome being able to actually walk around a big and see the cars, they had an EVO 8 on display but I forgot to take pics. They had a volvo in the rally hehe the guy let us sit in it. It started POURING right about the time the rally was supposed to start(noon), so we made our way to the spectator area for the first part of the day.
When we got there this greeted us:
woops

This guy was doing something wack and as you can see his tire is like off to the side hehehe. Anyway that meant we could not drive up to the spectator area, we had to park and walk. Three miles! In the pouring rain and WINDY as hell.
Me and wind :( As you can see it was so windy I could barely keep my eyes open.

We get there, stake out a perfect spot:
Yay
And waited, and waited, and waited. The cars were supposed to come around 2:40 and it was 3:40 and nothing.. we waited until 4 and left. Mind you this was in the POURING rain and at least 15-20mph wind. I have never been so cold in my life. Supposedly they cancelled alot of the stages and they were gonna go through there once to not disappoint the fans we decided to not freeze anymore and went down. Here is my friend after standing 3 hours in the freezing rain:
He loves it
He said it was the worst day of his life (and he was even more disappointed because I told him it would be totally awesome.) I was disappointed, but it's now a good story to tell to friends.

Here is another good pic with the clouds right next to us, shows you how high up we were.
Clouds

Those who didn't go, you didn't miss much, but I will definately see you next year!
