ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, 90 minutes north of los angeles!

Spectator info is here:

I'll be there with my digicam taking tons of pics.. maybe we could have a small AT meetup at the chili party on friday night? Anyone? I might camp out in the forest if possible as well. It's pretty exciting and rare something like this comes around for rally fans so close to such a huge metropolitan area. Don't miss it!

Edit: Forgot to add its only $5 for a spectator pass!

GOING:
me and my friend

i went last year. most of the fun is at the spectator area before the race starts. it was in front of the holiday inn at palmdale last year. the first stage of the rally goes through a dirt track located in front of the hotel. you literally get to stand a couple feet away from the track. everyone got covered with an heavy layer of dirt and dust :). they had sponsor booths and rally rides too in the morning. the other stages of the race aren't nearly as fun since you have to observe from a couple hundred feet away. only those with press passes get the good spots at the other stages. watching the rally cars drive on the street is pretty funny to see since they are required to drive their vehicles from stage to stage. so if anyone is driving around in palmdale and sees a rally car on the highway, they are probably in the race. :p

Palmdale and Rim of the World are 30 minutes north of LA like I'm Bill Gates. Well, you might make it in 30 minutes in a twin engine prop plane.

Try more like two hours.

What? Palmdale is about 65 miles from los angeles, so unless you drive really slow there is no way it'll take two hours. But I've edited my post to say 60 minutes.

You don't live in LA, and if you do, you don't drive much in LA, and if you do, you're on serious drugs.

Factor in your average daytime traffic (need not be rush hour) and it's two hours. The only way you'd do it under an hour and a half is if you did it in the middle of the night.

True I wasn't factoring in traffic and such (especially since you'll probably be heading there on a friday afternoon) if you're on the 5 once you get out of L.A. past the 210 it usually goes alot smoother from my experience.

dude, I live on the 10 710 intersection, and it took me at least 45 minutes to get to Palmdale, THAT is without factoring traffic in.
