oh i agree. i wouldn't deal with him or tflinch2.

But you want to ban quarsarsky over not having Patience (and leaving a neutral) but want to give a free ride ot tflicnh2 for threatening a negative?

they both are in the wrong. Quarsasky for going off half cocked and tflinch for threatening a negative when a neutral is enough.

he only threatened, guess what he didn't do it.

if quarsasky only threatened we wouldn't be discussing any of this. to equate threatening someone to actually leaving heat is just plain stupid.

If tfinch2 is so upset with the attitude and demeanor that quasarsky has been using throughout dealing with him, and in addition to that, feels that he has acted so inappropriately even after the responses of others to quasarsky in this thread, quasarsky may well be warranted a negative.

LOL I can't believe how blind quarsky is about this whole trade/thread/situation. Quarsky, you really just don't get it do you?

I must reiterate once more, you are being flamed and called idiot/stupid/retard/whatever because you simply cannot see how impatient and unreasonable you are with the trade with tfinch.

So you received a supposedly broken scanner. We understand that and are not saying you are BSing us. If you say it's broken, it's broken. However, your response to how you communicate with tfinch and also your expectations of what is reasonable is completely unrealistic.

The thing with PMs is that you never know when you will receive one. You PMed tfinch saying it was broken and whatnot, and what, you actually expect him to be online the very second you send him that PM? If you do, then you are unreasonable and totally in the wrong here. It's not like you have waited 2+ days for a response. Tfinch sent you an PM to see if the scanner is working and stuff, you reply back saying it's broken, and then shortly after, you shoot a neutral eval to him b/c he didn't respond within XX amount of time.

Furthremore, you actually believe he's trying to avoid you. There was no reason for you to feel that way yet. The trade is still fresh and you gave him no time to respond, etc. You continually think that you are justified in doing what you did. You never gave him the benefit of the doubt and just jumped to conclusions. That is no way to be an upstanding trader.

You have to give people time and be prepared to not get instantaneous responses. If he took a few days to respond to the problem, then yeah he would be in the wrong. But you just up and thought he was avoiding you. Learn to be patient.

Again, HE WAS NOT AVOIDING YOU OR THE PROBLEM. Let me ask you this, what he left his browser window open when you sent him that PM? It would show him as "online" but he was away from his computer. Would you still think he was avoiding you? See my point? You can't just make all these assumptions when anything in real life could make him be AFK. Learn to think through problems and how to deal with them before you just think you're in the right and blast a neutral.

oh i agree i would be really upset myself. Heck i would have written him a nasty email/im etc.

I just feel him threatining a negitive is wrong.

I would be worried about dealing with him in the future. IF he does something that deserves a negitive i would be worried abot getting one because he is mad. with how he has posted it is a possiblity of him doing such.

But i woldnt have given tflinch a netural to begine wiht. i would have tried to get him to fix it before. Wich is why i say i wouldnt deal with either.

Normally when I sell (both here and eBay) I leave positive feedback once I receive payment.

My theory was that their part of the deal ended there.

This thread has proven me wrong.

quasarsky's obligation to the deal did not end when he sent payment, & his behavior since then is simply atrocious.

If I were to give anything but positive feedback, I would think about it beforehand and determine if I was doing the right thing. I can also use the aid of some of my FS/FT friends with a loooong history of trading for advice.

Once I had given heat, it would pretty much stick unless Heat23 decided otherwise.

In this instance, i would think that the actions by quasarsky warrant a neutral under the assumption that finch did was was right as far as the broken scanner.

Finch IS seeking advice from peers. If quasarsky did nothing wrong, how is finch posting this bad?

Well, I am now glad this thread was created. I can avoid both of them in the FS/FT forum.

exactly, this quarsarsky kid is seriously paranoid and seriously needs to reevaluate himself.

first as soon as the scanner tests bad, he instantly assumes the sender intentionally sold him a bad scanner. then he complains about how it was shipped (which really is irrelevant if he is convinced that the scanner was bad to start with), then he leaves the seller an Neutral (NOT NEGATIVE? WTF, if the seller sent a bad scanner leave him a NEGATIVE), then he claims he's justified in all this because he gave the seller all of 2 hours to respond to his PM stating the scanner was bad.

OMFG.

I agree. Quarsarsky is a moron. He should have given tflinch a chance to fix it. I also agree with tflinch being upset. Heck i would be also. i have perfect heat ware (heh 3 of them!).

But to threaten to leave a retaliatory negative (which is what it would be) is wrong. While many disagree on that thats fine. My personal opinion is both royally screwed the pooch. both let emotion dictate what happened instead of thinking it through.

Im not saying you have bad trading practices and maybe its the fact that you're angry, but the level of maturity shown in this thread is something I avoid like the plague over there.

after i told finch the scanner didn't work he said :
"So when did you plan on letting me know? The scanner worked for me." at 5:48 pm.

and i told him the error message it was giving me, at 5:52 pm. and he had already signed off, at 5:50pm, which i found out by clicking on his profile. seemed like he was avoiding me.

i sent him this at 6:37 pm : "i left a neutral, mostly cause the scanner doesnt' work and partly because u signed off when i was trying to ask u if there was something i did wrong (but i did look over all the directions). i felt its a fair feedback. i won't ship it back to u, i already got another one coming from canon that will be shipped tomorrow. so u don't have to worry about that.

i hope u don't mind the neutral but i left a lengthy feedback explaining why. if u don't want to leave me one i understand. thanks -chris"

here's the response i left him in his heat.

Neutral tfinch2 Bought item 01-02-2006 [CLOSE]

Description:
bought a scanner lide 500f for $75 bucks shipped
Comments:
was happy with the price (goes for $115 brand new) but unfortuantely scanner doesn't work. i was going to leave tfinch2 a positive feedback for shipping it fast and with everything it came with brand new but when i told him it didn't work he said "when i was going to tell him" in the anandtech forums and signed off. not the fault of the seller but from now on when i buy something i'm going to ask and make sure its tested before its shipped first (he may have done this i dunno, perhaps it got damaged in shipment). he didn't use the scanner that much so it may have worked before but just broke while it was not in use.

on the plus side canon will send me a replacement unit and i will receive it sometime this week, and when i get it back, i'll use their return shipping label to send it back to them. so its not a total loss

and yes i received on the 30th last month and didn't test till today cause i went somewhere for new years. i paid for it on teh 22nd.

finally, he sends me this
tfinch sends me a message at 7:12 pm "Hope you enjoy the replacement. Thanks for giving me time to make it right, and ruining my heatware. Hope you like your negative"

he got my message saying it was broken cause he replied "when was i going to tell him it was broken" then he got off anandtech. that is not right. okay? no matter what you say.

And why isn't it right? People have lives outside of trading. He may have planned on writing you back after cooking dinner for his family, after getting back from errands, after any number of things. Hell, he probably wanted to give you ample time to forumlate a respone and to detail what exactly was going wrong with the scanner, and something you may have wanted him to do to remedy the situation.

Like myself and other people have said before, for many of us logging out is as simple as closing our web browers. We do not go to the sign off screen and manually log out. All we do is just close and browsers, and we're logged out.

You are not the center of his universe. Obviously he was back onto the account by 7:15. So he would've been able to respond within an hour and a half.

What would he possibly have been able to do in that hour and a half that he couldn't have done after that hour and half?

the point is u all are trying to say that i sent him a message saying it was broken, got no response, or didn't wait for one, and proceeded to leave neutral heat.

how are u all going to say i don't understand what you all are saying when you don't make the effort to even understand what i'm saying?

i already admitted i was probably too hasty yet i keep getting blasted.

you don't even read what i posted and constantly act like animals, like a pack of wild wolves.

this mob behavior needs to stop. you people should be ashamed of yourselves. maybe you should all be upset if it were a negative. but it was only a neutral that i probably should have waited a lil longer on before i decided what kind of heat to leave. sheesh. crazy and bizarre and ridicoulous. i hope none of you people ever go to court for any reason. i can see each of you being held in contempt of court. yeah. really. you all act that silly.

Because even if it is "just" a neutral heat, it's still a completely unwarranted blemish on his otherwise stellar record.

You fvcked up. Own up to it completely and stop insulting others in an attempt to save face and divert attention away from your own shortcomings.

Should've given the seller a chance to resolve it. I doubt with 38 positive heat he would intentionally sell you a bad scanner. There are many WORSE trolls out there.
I think it would've been right to leave a neutral on quasarky's account, borderline between a negative. Not giving tfinch time to correct it was very childish and I hope a bird shits on your face.

Quarsky, you STILL don't understand what I wrote. It IS ok for him to get off AT. Him being on or off at that point in the trade should have no bearing on you jumping the gun. Again, if this was a few days that he ignored, then you are justified. But it was less than 1 F'in day.

You were too hasty and paranoid. I have said this many times, NO ONE IS TRYING TO AVOID YOU. Just b/c you don't get a PM right away doesn't mean they are avoiding you.

Do you get what I'm trying to explain here? It doens't matter that he wrote you a PM asking "so when were you going to tell me it was broken?" and you replying to it. He doens't have to sit at his computer 24/7. A few hours at most would have gone by and then he would have responded.

PATIENCE. YOU HAVE NONE.

the point is u all are trying to say that i sent him a message saying it was broken, got no response, or didn't wait for one, and proceeded to leave neutral heat.

how are u all going to say i don't understand what you all are saying when you don't make the effort to even understand what i'm saying?

i already admitted i was probably too hasty yet i keep getting blasted.

you don't even read what i posted and constantly act like animals, like a pack of wild wolves.

this mob behavior needs to stop. you people should be ashamed of yourselves. maybe you should all be upset if it were a negative. but it was only a neutral that i probably should have waited a lil longer on before i decided what kind of heat to leave. sheesh. crazy and bizarre and ridicoulous. i hope none of you people ever go to court for any reason. i can see each of you being held in contempt of court. yeah. really. you all act that silly.

Because even if it is "just" a neutral heat, it's still a completely unwarranted blemish on his otherwise stellar record.

You fvcked up. Own up to it completely and stop insulting others in an attempt to save face and divert attention away from your own shortcomings.

u wouldn't own up to it if u were in my shoes, so fvck u lol. the only shortcomings lie with you my friend. for its when we find fault in others, that we are really projecting our faults onto them :):cookie:

EDIT: Also, you're right I wouldn't own up to. That's because I wouldn't have put myself in that situation to begin with. Feel free to PM all the people I've dealt with in the past. I always provice prompt shipping, communication, and excellent packaging.

I think it would've been right to leave a neutral on quasarky's account, borderline between a negative. Not giving tfinch time to correct it was very childish and I hope a bird shits on your face.

LOL

Off to FS/FT to buy a new keyboard. I just spit my soda all over this one...
