So, who here loves washing their own cars?

Seeing that I have today off... </shifty eyes> (it's about damn time we need get a shifty eyes emote up in here!), I took my time to wash, wax and detailed the exterior of my black car. Can't say I was disappointed when I was done, I can use it as a mirror. The other day, I also took a buffer and compound to my white car and took all the oxidation off, and now it looks like brand new with a shinny coat of wax too (I was too lazy to take care of the white car, usually the illegals wash the white car).

Who else like to wash their own cars?

I did on my first car. If I had a cool car now, I'd probably have more incentive 😉

Ugh, my car is filthy and I haven't washed it in well over a month.

I did wash my motorcycle the other day though. It looks sweet!

i have an old beater of an altima, the inside is clean enough, but i dont bother washing the outside unless its covered in bird shit

Maybe if we didn't have a total outdoor water use ban. It's been about a year since I washed my car.

A spinning brush will never touch my jeep. I would rather let the dirt sit (and I do from time to time) than let a machine or some minimum wage moron touch my paint.

Maybe if I had a really nice car I would.

Sorry to take this off topic, but I heard of a product once that helped clear up headlights that have been "fogged" over time from car washes. Does anyone have suggestions?

every chance I get... drove in the snow today and it needs another wash... freezing temps ftl.

Yeah, you can actually repair them. You'd have to purchase the polish compound available at any auto part store, sand papers from Home Depot (start with 400, then 1000, then 2000). A lot of elbow grease will take the "fog" off and buff it with the compound, I guarantee it will be like new.

I do...

Do you do details for others? Looks like isle 3 at Auto Zone.

mostly just myself now-a-days...my details aren't cheap when I do do them.

those pics are a little lacking too due to not all my stuff being setup at that point...this is current, the middle of my workshop is cluttered because I am rearranging my tools/painting stuff.

I dont see a porter cable 7424 you fail. 😉

I miss ride through car washes. Once they stopped letting folks ride through, I lost all desire to wash a car.

Don't normally wash car myself. I can either pay $8-10 with coupon to get basic car wash or can i spend 2 hours washing it myself.

During the spring and summer, I love washing and waxing and detailing. Every weekend I'm out doing something to my car, be it waxing...buffing...just washing, or cleaning my exterior with a toothbrush...and yes I've done that.

For those of you that wanna make life easier waxing etc, below is the 7424 I use, I own a detailing business and this thing rules. I got mine for $99.00 but dont remember where online, so do some searching.
