My father rented an RV........with no AC.....sigh. And my grandmother, God bless her, would crank on that little oven in there EVERY day and make HOT foods like mashed potatoes, meatloaf, and the like. Gah......it was a stifling 2 weeks.

I suppose the garage would work...but around here, the only ones who have stoves in the garage are the Indian families...😛
 
Where I live the average June high temp is 90.8. So far the avg high temp for this June is 99.8. The avg over night low is supposed to be in the low 70s. Right now the avg. overnight low is 84.5

14/19 Days of 100+ Temps in June.

Actually, in Guam, most of the families that own their own houses have an outside kitchen, built under an overhang. That way, they can cook/bake/roast whatever they want, any time of the day, without having to put additional stress on the A/C.

The process actually probably started in the days before air conditioning, when it would simply allow you to use an oven without further heating what was already a hot, humid household. When you live in a semi-tropical place, where the average temp is in the 90's, with high humidity, you learn to cope that way.

I live in Arlington. I hope in only gets hotter. I like seeing people "suffer" like they think they are. It wouldn't feel so hot with that extra 150 lbs of fat you're carrying tubby!
 
I just drove passed a government building earlier (around 4:30 p.m.) and the board said 103 F.

Summer is not even here yet and still no rain. Cotton, corn, and wheat will be expensive if the drought continues.
 
New a/c unit - check. Season membership to local waterpark - check. massive supply of various cold beverages -check. I'm in Dallas and we know how to beat the Heat (I hear groans -haha)

Hey now, don't jink us Southerners. I don't know how Southern people were able to live in the 1800's and before, with all those long and heavy cotton clothes. Yike.

Well, your body does acclimate to your surrounding conditions. As a whole, we've been spoiled by AC, and thus we struggle in heat above 90F.

That said, I doubt 90F-110F in the 1800s were a walk in the park. The death rate among the population was substantially higher than it is now... so who's to say they handled it well?

Yep...

Tomorrow: Mainly sunny. Very hot. High near 100F.

Tuesday: A mainly sunny sky. Very hot. High around 105F.

Wednesday: Mainly sunny. Highs 103 to 107F

Thursday: Sunny. Highs 104 to 108F

Then, a bit of cooling...back to the upper 80's and low 90's for a few days.

Fortunately, our humidity is usually less than 20% on those hot days...I've seen it down to as low as 10% on days over 100...It might be hot...but it's a dry heat. 🙄
 
It was 79 yesterday with dew point of 65.... so it felt like 90ish to me. Was horrible, but I managed to avoid cranking the AC by hanging out in the basement, dehumidifier kept humidity down and it was quite comfortable there.
 
We had to go into San Francisco this morning for a doctor appt. Everyone was complaining about how hot it was...(it was in the low 70's about 8:30) and bitching that it was supposed to get to 80! OMFG! 🙄

When we got home about 1530, it was 100 here. <sigh> there goes the fucking electric bill...

At about 3pm this afternoon at my house my thermometer/hygrometer on the north facing shaded part of my house was reading 85 degrees with 86% humidity D😀😀😀:

Not sure whats worse 100+ with a killer electric bill or 85degrees with 86% humidity. Yeah my AC runs but not too much, it's the instant swamp ass that's horrible.

You're not joking. People die every summer from the heat. Mostly old people who couldn't pay their electrical bills or something along the lines of that.
 
Damn it! 70's during the day, 60's at night. 70's during the day, 60's at night. Over and over and over. What miserable weather we have in the Northeast. You can spend all day working outside without dying.
