what's important to know about the 300HP bit?

sorry i'm not picking it up ..is a 130HP RWD worse off than a 300HP RWD in these road conditions?

300HP accidental tap on the gas = much worse than 130HP accidental tap on the gas.

Does that happen to you often? Because I've been driving for 20 years and can only recall catching my boot on the edge of the accelerator once while pressing the brake pedal.

Besides, tapping the gas doesn't mean 300hp is instantly going to your rear wheels...it's progressive you know.

Is this asshat day or something? Get back to work. 300HP is more dangerous than 130HP on ice. There's no argument against it.

Blah, even the USPS shut down for a couple days during the Denver blizzards. Apparently "blizzard" isn't covered in the credo.

Of course you baby it. What I'm saying is that you have much less room for error with the gas pedal with a 300HP car than 130HP or 40HP.

Maybe one of these days you'll get a job with some actual responsibility. Then you'll understand why those policies exist.

Our policy is if you can't get to the office just work from home. I work at the same company as my wife, and she went in to the office today, so I pretty much had to.

We had liberal leave, meaning you can stay home, but you lose a day of leave.

So, I came in. It's only 5 miles each way, and I have an all-wheel drive Subaru Outback and an all-wheel drive Escape.

right... network support has no real responsibility...

Aside from the *critical agencies* I listed above...
there is no reason your office cant close for the day, no job is worth risking your life over it.

i wish i was at work. i do installs for a wireless isp so were out today with the few inches of snow here

roads are fine, just no work to be done :/ im getting tired of winter

my dad used to open no matter what back home, in north carolina. snow is such a rarity so close to the coast though, that with anything more than a dusting, people take the day off. hed have me go in at 6 am like usual to start up all of the drycleaning equipment and such, get not more than 15 customers (most of whom would say "wow i didnt expect you guys to be open today!" ) and wed go home by 1pm :/

yes, our small office is the same... i am the one to "open" every day so i came in. That is why i have 4wd. I have no excuses.

Even if I had a 4WD I wouldn't have gone in today. The other morons will still crash their stupid asses into me whether I have a 4x4 or not.

Besides, 4WD only helps with acceleration. Doesn't really have an advantage over a FWD vehicle when turning or breaking.

Yep. It only has two positions. Idle and WOT.

the ghost-town at work would probably be more exciting than here at home where I am every single day.

My coworkers went to work early (for a supposed delayed opening) and found out everything was shut down. They called me just as I was about to leave, so I got lucky and didn't have to drive there to be told I should go home.

Good stuff.

rutgers? when i went there a few years ago the damn univ never shut down due to snow, I remember we got what seemed like two feet of snow and they didn't cancel classes till after I reach (obviously), and it took me like 7-8 hours to drive 12 miles home. It was the year the shuttle bus tipped over (2003? I dunno, probably before your time anyway..)

No, its actually not. 10 HP is no more dangerous then 1000 HP on ice.
Its the wingnut running the throttle that determines the level of dangerous. ;)

That said, yesterday, when we got about 10 inches or so of snow ... I did not make it in...

I got caught in the freezing rain and sleet on the way home in my 350 hp GTO on the way home. So I'm 50 hp worse off than joshsquall. :) Either way, if I tapped the gas, the rear would just spin. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear, didn't matter. It sucked royally. The tires aren't the greatest in snow, I'm sure. If I had better tires I'd take it out and try again.

WHAAAAAA!!! MY CAR HAS 300HP!!!!11!1!ONE :(

Put a little weight in the trunk and you'll be fine. Oh, and get some decent snow tires if you have performance tires on it now. Jeez, you'd think this would be common sense...what the hell do they teach kids in drivers ed these days?
