And if you think 24 is still godly, you're in denial or you're incapable of appreciating art and culture. 24 is so 1-dimensional. You can only go so far before Jack Bauer's "baddass-ness" gets old. It's just like Chuck Norris. It gets to a point where his shows aren't even serious and just a joke. Same here. I guess the serious nature of the show keeps it intact still, but honestly, if you think there's quality screenwriting here, you're out of your mind.

LOL i agree with that 100%. I find myself laughing at 24 more than I do getting excited about watching it and taking it seriously. It's almost a comedy now a days.

I mean every episode we get atleast 1 of each of the following lines.

"DAMNIT!"
"WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME!"
"Bill we just retrieved [fill in the blank]'s phone, i'm uploading the data to you as we speak."
"TRUST ME!"

Then about once every 2 or 3 episodes, you have Jack with a bunch of idiot people on the Tact Team, and they all die except Jack.

The show is just laughable now.

The more important question is why take shows like this seriously. It's based in a current fictional land that resembles the USA.
Just enjoy it.

Season 1 was garbage. The only reason I liked it is because it was the "first" season and you could forgive insane plot holes. How many times did "the mole" have a chance to ruin things in a much more concise manner? Answer: eleventy billion. They made a huge mistake in not writing who the mole was in advance. For this reason season 1 is utter crap, because it does not even stand up to its own internal logic.

So far this season I think there has been more "stupid characters" than obvious plot holes. Still not a good thing to have in a show, but a lot more forgiveable.

I thought that the first season of 24 only had 12 episodes ordered originally, so they had to plan for the show to end mid way through. Or something like that 😕

i guess you don't understand the meaning of jumping the shark huh.

no one in this thread said anything about taking the show seriously. i mean how can you take a show seriously when they don't even eat or drink or shlt or piss in a day?

Well I believe the first season was divided into two halves for the plot, but it was somewhat connected like Season 2. By the time you get to Season 3 and 4 you can tell they're running out of ideas midway and so they throw in a whole new twist to the scenario.

Oh c'mon!!! That's when it started getting good! 🙂

I think when they decided to make season 2 of 24 was when I stopped watching it.

People have eaten on the show. Not often though, and it's not that crazy to not eat if you're involved in catching terrorists all day. It's not like they're gonna show Jack at McDonald's eating some chicken nuggets anyway. As far as sh!tting, going a day without doing it is hardly crazy. Peeing on the other hand, might be hard. 😉

Still a loyal fan, but if you're looking for silliest 'WTF" scenes from 24 I'd say it was in Season 4 when Marwan (sic?) was in the middle of the desert (i.e. no buildings, just dirt) riding along in a jeep with a CTU helicopter following him with a spotlight on the jeep. This is how the episode ended. In the next episode, the helicopter somehow lost him in the pursuit.

How the hell do you lose a jeep in the desert?

If you lose the spotlight for a second or two, you will lose the target. The desert = completely dark. It's like if you were in the forest and you had your flashlight. Spin in a circle and see if you can find that spot again you were looking at 1 second ago. That said... cars have brake lights and Marwan needs to drive in the dark and not use brakes at all to get away.... but I forgot that scene so I don't know what I'm talking about.

purbeast0 I can't explain how you would believe the show changed in the way you describe. It's always had that same cheesy dialogue where jack needs it NOW and doesn't have TIME to explain it, etc. I think you just have finally started noticing it after all this time. How can the show get any more ridiculous than a mountain lion chasing the daughter who escaped kidnappers only to be kidnapped again by someone else and then kidnapped at least twice more in season 2? It can't. The show was ridiculous from episode 1. It took me about 5 more episodes to realize it is ridiculous and love it or leave it. Apparently it took you.. 6 seasons plus 10 episodes??

It was a suggestion. If you got your feelings hurt, write to Fox. Or stop watching it. Better yet, make a post on ATOT about it.

oh i still watch it weekly as it airs. it is still entertaining to me but it just doesn't have the buzz it used to have by any means and is just getting mor and more ridiculous. and i will watch next season and the following season too.

FOX got me hooked ... DAMNIT!

Word. Later, Edgar. Hahahahaha, I hated that guy.

They always seem to have too many internal problems in CTU, it's stupid.

I know the feeling. So far, besides the first 4 episodes of season 6 (comparing it to other seasons), I'm not totally liking it. I am willing to watch all the hours before I make up my mind. And there is always next season, and the cycle continues. Yes, they got me hooked too.
It still is better then most shows out there. I only watch House, CSI-All (fake but pretty), L&O, Bones and 24. Everything else is just something happen to catch from time to time.

Bah, every show jumps every other show, it's just how badly it jumps. '24' has kept the jump level pretty moderate, so it's still fun to watch, and you get used to the bs.

I don't think it's godly, but I like it. It's still fun for me. I don't see what the problem is: if you were expecting realism, you've come to the wrong show.

At least it's better than CSI: Miami. That show has jumped the shark, humped the shark, and had a post-coital cigarette with the shark.

lol. What is scary is that I still watch it.
It's downright the best 'looking' on HD. It's the one to watch when showing off a set.
And yes, my attention is attracted to shiny things.

The wife and I missed the first season, but picked up on the second. We started watching the third, but at that point it was just stupid. There's no way Kim should have survived, much less get hired to work at CTU. We both wanted her to die. So we quit watching after the first episode of season 3.

When President Logan was revealed to be the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks (last season). I haven't watched a second of this season as a result. And you know what? I'm okay with it!

Shiny things like Emily Procter and that newer brunette chick.

24 has NEVER been even close to realistic, but it's entertaining anyway. I just love the absolute control they have over every intelligence collection resource -- highly amusing! However, I think my favorite is how they can access every CLOSED-CIRCUIT camera system!!!

I just started season 5 (? the newest season out on DVD) and the show has now completely jumped the shark for me. I think it's the fact that Jack Bauer is always whispering and always sounds like he's out of breath. I'm sure it's intended to be dramatic but in actuality it's the most annoying thing ever. Has he always been doing this and I just didn't notice before?

The plots are just getting get dumber and dumber too. Not to mention the prerequisites for every season. There must be (1) Terrorist nuclear/biological/chemical weapons threat, (1) Plot to kill a U.S. President, present or former, and (1, or more) high level mole.

Anyway, just one more thing to back up what I've been saying all along. The Shield > 24
