So what IS the proper way to break in a car?

Avoid full-throttle, but also avoid constant engine speeds. Additionally, don't lug the engine. Your owner's manual should cover this. Follow the advice in there.

Agreed

don't baby the car. you don't need to... just avoid constant engine RPM as stated earlier... Other than that, drive the car like you would after a year of owning it.

Avoid constant engine RPM?

😕

That doesn't even make sense. Your engine has constant RPMs, even at idle, it's doing approximately 700 RPMs

same here 😉

General rule is not to go too high on the RPMs, and not to hold it at a constant RPM for a long period of time. So, no long-distance freeway driving, and no drag racing.

That doesn't even make sense. Your engine has constant RPMs, even at idle, it's doing approximately 1,700 RPMs

Your car idles at 1700 RPM? Holy crap.

I did say approximately. And, I don't own a car yet, I'm talking about my parents' cars.

edit: nevermind, I meant to say approximately 700...fixed it now in my previous message. 😀
