So, uh, I had my first experience with alcohol on Friday night.

Jager baby, it's all about the Jager.

Dammit, it's Sunday so my neighborhood bar is closed:( It's sad in a way when you realize you've become a regular.

What's a few drinks?

First time you always feel light headed or "dizzy," goes away after the second time.

First time I drank I had about 4 drinks and I couldn't believe the buzz. Now it takes at least 10 to do anything. Enjoy it while it lasts!

It's called tolorance and in many cases is a sign of alcoholism. If you are up to 10 beers to do anything, I think you should see someone about this.

I had ~13 shots last night, and it didn't do much for me... enough to be tipsy, but I've built up a tolerance fast.

13 shots of Puckers = 1 shot of beer.

You know, I'm not really sure how many drinks I had, but it wasn't that many. I started off with a Mike's Hard Lemonade and pretty much tried a little bit of everything else. I had sips (literally two or three each -- I didn't really enjoy them by themselves) of Grey Goose, Jim Beam, and Bacardi Superior. I liked, but only sipped, Malibu Rum, Amaretto, and Kahlua. In addition, I tried some peach-flavored Schnapps with Sprite for kicks (just a sip -- it was way too sweet!) and I had several glasses (~8 oz) of very weak Rum and Coke. In all, I'd guess it was about 3-5 drinks in the span of a few hours.

For those who are curious, I went on a cruise last summer where I was allowed to drink. I had a glass of wine with a few of my dinners, a beer one night with some pizza, a Pina Colada, and a glass of rum that I could not finish by itself :). After those, I found out that their policy involved not selling hard alcohol to anybody under 21. I also had some samples of light rum mixers in Puerto Rico. Besides that, I'd had a glass of wine at home a few times (for special occasions).

That's about the extent of my history with alcohol, although I don't really count anything before last Friday, as it was never enough to notice.

while drinking doesn't make you cool or anything, I dont think following a stupid law that was put into place for no good reason should be considered something an individual should recieve internet props for. It's not amazing. it's sorta sad.

drinking is something kids do.

You maybe didn't feel anything because you didn't drink enough. It's a pretty crazy and radical stance, but I'm pretty sure it's true.

Try drinking more, or don't, whatever.

I was on it with my mother and relatives for my grandfather's 75th birthday. Regardless, what I meant by "allowed" was that it was legal for the cruise line to sell me alcohol.

it was probably put into place because the government felt that those who were 21 and older would be able to drink responsibly.

Once again, it's typical of our American government to try to be right where everywhere else in the world is wrong. The UK, all of Western europe, the nordic countries, canada...nope, they are doing it ALL wrong with a drinking age of 18 or 19. We are the only country that is capable of reaching the 'correct' solution on this, right?

Depends on what you mean by a few hours.
3 drinks in 3 hours and I wouldn't expect you to be feeling much of anything.
5 drinks in 2 hours and you would probably have a minor buzz.
Try drinking 3 or 4 beers or doing 3 or 4 shots within 30 minutes or so.
That should give you an idea of what it's like to get drunk.
Just remember, if you don't stop until you are really feeling like you've had enough, it's probably too late and you may end up puking all night.

I've had a couple of really bad nights and trust me, you don't want to experience that.

lol, i love when people say not to mix alcohol. i've never seen any proof that mixing different drinks, or drinking things in certain orders will make you sick.

personally i get sick when i drink to much.. period.. which is pretty rare

I held out until I was 2 months away from turn 21 to try drinking. I'm thinking you probably didn't have that good of a drinking experience because you were sampling alot of different drinks or just didn't drink enough. When I was starting out I'd just do shots of rum, they tasted nasty as hell but you could get the shot done and over with in less than 30 seconds and after 3-4 shots you couldn't really taste them anymore. When I started out I hated beer, it took me a year of drinking hard A before I started to like beer. Since your just starting out remember beer before liquor never been sicker, liquor before beer never fear. And if you can try and stick to one type of beer or hard liquor it'll help minimize your hangover and I've found drinking quality Hard A gives you less of hangover than the cheap stuff. And the last drinking tip I'll give is to be careful with you alcohol intake because in the beginning you start to build your tolerance and to compensate you'll drink more to get your buzz and if you not careful you can end up drinking way to much and skip your buzz and go straight to piss drunk.

Good luck and welcome to booze

It depends on the person, I find when I mix too many different types of hard alcohol I am more likey to throw up than if I had the same amount of the same type hard alcohol. But I always find that if I drink a few beers first then move to hard alcohol I always throw up.
