So, uh, I had my first experience with alcohol on Friday night.

Nothing extreme. I turned 21 several weeks ago and some of my friends introduced me to a few drinks the other night.

I was really curious to find out what it meant to "get buzzed" and, quite frankly, I'm a bit disappointed. I pretty much just felt light-headed, which the others told me was normal. Did I miss something? Perhaps I didn't drink enough? I'm trying to figure out what's so attractive about drinking alcohol. I mean, I could spin around in circles for a few minutes to get the same effect. :) Of course, it wouldn't last for the 90 minutes my buzz did and I'd probably get sick pretty quickly...

I was also surprised at how difficult it was to tell that I was acting differently. They said I was a bit more animated and loose and while I could see a difference in my a few of my friends, I felt really normal (other than the light-headedness).

Of course, it wasn't a bad experience. I enjoyed sitting around with my friends and I enjoyed trying different drinks. I guess I just wanted to know if there is some aspect of drinking that I'm missing (other than getting flat-out drunk and throwing myself at women).

Any thoughts?

Now try drinking until you can have dental work done, and you'll have experienced both ends of the spectrum. It's a whirlwind tour of alcoholism.

your were thinking to much about it. Just enjoy the buzz and don't think about it. THEN the morning after that's when the fun begins ;)

IF you keep trying to get drunkER, then you will make yourself sick. You were probby drunk as hell.. just you didn't notice it because alcohol lowers your perspective a bit. If your friends say you were drunk, then you were drunk.

Also, it's usually not a good idea to try a bunch of different drinks - especially if you plan on getting drunk. I mean, I see it happen all the time - n00b drinker thinks mixing a white russian with a screwdriver is a good idea. (cheese barf)

It's like smoking pot.. the first time you do it, you won't realize how fuct up you are. It's like any drug pretty much (except lsd). Don't drink too much and get sick - it really really sucks.. you'll be sick all night.

The more you drink, the easier it will be able for you to tell how messed up you are. Also, I HIGHLY recommend drinking beer and only beer to get drunk. Beer has the nice effect of taking up space in your stomach so you have less of a chance of getting sick. It also has less sugars than the girly drinks so your hangover won't be as bad. However, cheap or dark beers give you bad hangovers more often than decent light beers.

that's the bad part, eh? you don' know your getting drunk t'll you offer to sleep with some chimp-looking girl.

further intoxication will eventually get you hooked, then the effects are quite euphoric. The effects are also much more euphoric if you are depressed.

drink lots of water, before, during, and after;

Pretty fun stuff. I just got back from my latest adventures with alcohol. :D

Of course, the first thing I do is check ATOT.

I second the beer idea, it's easy to nurse them and go slow, and you'll definitly start throwing up long before you have to worry about alcohol poisoning or anything like that.

Just think about how much more money would be wasted if you were to drive after drinking and get pulled over.

Make sure you eat a balanced meal around a hour before you start drinking.

What's a few drinks?

First time you always feel light headed or "dizzy," goes away after the second time.

First time I drank I had about 4 drinks and I couldn't believe the buzz. Now it takes at least 10 to do anything. Enjoy it while it lasts!

effects depend on genetics also. i remember reading about how much more pleasurable alcoholics found it because of how it affected them biologically.

It's called tolorance and in many cases is a sign of alcoholism. If you are up to 10 beers to do anything, I think you should see someone about this.

Ahaha, I had a great time with friends last night; hung out at home, drank a bit (~13 shots for me), and watched "Anger Management" - that movie wasn't even that funny when drunk.

That being said, I'm trying to figure out if I'm safe to drive (male, ~250 lbs, drank from 11PM-12:30AM, it's 8:45AM now).

Bah, might as well wait a bit longer.

I had ~13 shots last night, and it didn't do much for me... enough to be tipsy, but I've built up a tolerance fast.

I'd say give it another hour or two at min. I did a BAC calc for you at it was .08, but I was a bit liberal with the figures.

I would believe you are incapable of throwing yourself at women. Speaking from personal experience.

The first time you think you are acting normal even though really you are messed up. Eventually you learn to judge how intoxicated you are and can control it (unless you are like some of my alcoholic friends).
