About 3 weeks ago I purchased 2 Raptors, a Seagate SATA 120GB drive, a motherboard and RAM. Nowhere on their site did it indicate these drives were OEM. So, I was presented with 3 SATA drives and 0 SATA cables. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice. The very NEXT day after I ordered, they started a promotion on their site that if you bought the Seagate you got a free SATA cable. So, I e-mailed them and asked if there was anyway I could get the cable since I had just ordered. Never got a response. So I called. Got a very unhelpful woman who said there was "no way" I could get it, because it was "impossible" for them to do it. I explained that I was planning on buying a new processor and some other items that same day, and since I was about to spend yet another few hundred dollars I thought the least they could do would be to honor this promotion that I missed by a day. No deal. So, I e-mailed again. No response. I called back, and talked to a different person. Got the same story. Asked to speak to a supervisor. She wasn't going to let me, I had to argue for 10 minutes before she transferred me. Got the supervisor's voicemail and left a message. I finally got an e-mail response that was addressed to "Dear customer". I wrote back, saying not only was I disappointed that noone was even willing to explore the possibility of letting me in on this promotion, but they couldn't even address me by my name. Never got a response to that message, never got a call back from the supervisor. So, I went back to newegg.
Were they obligated to honor the promotion? No. Would it have been nice? Yes. Could they have been bigger dicks about it? Nope. Will I order from them again? Not while newegg is in business.
