I know I have been bashing the CTS pretty hard and more than reason demands, but I guess half of it is sarcasm if you haven't detected that by now. I guess I am disappointed that the 3.6L CTS performance is not that good being overweight and all of that. I was coming to terms with the fact that I thought I had a 3.0L, but to find out that the 3.6L isn't impressive as it is in the 07 CTS made me a sad panda. I guess the real performance is left for the 3.6L DI and the V8

To give this a positive note , all in all the 3.6L isn't as horrible as I make it sound, you will feel the power, but it's jerky and delayed and it feels like it wasn't supposed to drive fast and way up there on the revolution band, one feels like he is forcing the car to do that.

The body experiences plenty of roll. The car gives you the impression that it will flip over if you suddenly change direction. I guess I was so pleased with my 07 I expected miracles from the 2010 model. But my opinion hasn't been finalized, not until I try a RWD DI 3.6L hopefully with a manual gearbox.

Also driving an AWD model has soured the experienced more than it would have been with a RWD model. I just can't see myself spending the extra money to get the AWD, not unless I live in Alaska
 
The LY7 is not listed as an option for a 2010 CTS and I thought you said it had a DI badge?

You appear to be driving the AWD LLT...

I think you guys are right, it doesn't seem 2010 3.6L can be anything but DI. That DIR confused me, I thought it meant something else. But the strange thing is that the Trunk doesn't have "Direct Injected" badge it seems all of the 2010 don't have it anymore. Maybe perhaps because 2010 and onward are all Direct Injected so no point in saying it on the trunk.

But wow, at $45,000+ I don't feel the worthiness compared to my 07. I think all that money went into the shiny fancy shmancy looks. And I definitely developed a dislike for AWD, can't have fun with that, it's not meant for it. But on the plus side, I can see how an AWD drive system would keep so many inexperienced drivers from getting their ass handed to them by a RWD 300+ HP car.

It's a beautiful car no doubt, but it's a shouty car as well. I am not sure if I can drive something like this everyday, sure it's a smooth and a nice ride, has plenty of luxuries inside. But It's such an attention magnet, I don't like attention, nothing good usually comes from attention. But everywhere I go I get stairs, not good, at work I get stairs, in my neighborhood I get stairs. This CTS doesn't blend in anywhere, it stands out too much everywhere and people stair at you with a "He thinks he is a bigshot" type of stair 😀

Hell, I would rather put a fancy turbo setup on my 07 CTS and pocket the difference.

The bottom line is, the first generation CTS was a masterpiece, just like the E39 5-series it was meant to emulate. But if you love attention from the wrong people , get this 2010 CTS, but do your self a favor, if you know how to handle a RWD car, don't get the AWD version.

The newer our cars get, the worse they are. You have regulation to blame, and stupid people.

DUDE THIS ONE HAS 0.78 CUBIC INCHES MORE HEADROOM!

OMG, you declined the wagon?! To me, it would've been the perfect circumstance to experience the novelty (and limited utility) of the wagon.

But really, if you look at pics, the 2010 CTS looks amazing, but when you actually sit in one, it's a different story, feels too space age like, it's a Cadillac not an Ariel atom.

Yep, new one looks far better. I've driven a manual RWD and thought it was an excellent car. Maybe the auto and AWD is skewing your perception.

BTW, out of curiosity, how old are you?

You have an AWD fat car. If you didn't have an AWD car, you'd still be slow than my Camry with a 2GR-FE.

The CTS is not a performance car. You'd have to step up to a CTS-V.

Huh? You ARE driving the Direct Injection model.
 
I have an '08 3.6DI AWD and really have no complaints. I don't really look to do a lot of drag racing, but have never had an issue overtaking a car on the highway or pulling into traffic from a stop. My best friend has a previous generation CTS and I feel the interior and exterior are a major improvement.

Agreed 100%

I drove a RWD 3.6DI back when I was test driving cars and felt the car had plenty of pep. I did not drive the AWD, so there may be something there.

I am 25, and yes definitely the AWD + Auto is skewing my perspective.

I agree with the interior being redesigned in a major way, but to be honest, getting back into my 2007 today with the luxury trim I felt better, I felt more comfortable and more living in this time.

Yes the AWD system was great for keeping me on the road but I didn't get to tail slide not one bit, definitely missed having a RWD.

Another point to take into consideration, the car had 1K miles on it. So...there is a possibility it wasn't broken into all the way I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

On my way back I disabled traction-stability controls and switched to manual mode, big improvement all around. But starting from a standstill in first gear doesn't have that roar and excitement that my 07 CTS has. My 07 lurches like a monster from a standstill and that to me is a big point.

But as I said, I am keeping an open mind, will be test driving a RWD one soon and will update my perspective accordingly.
