Recreational fishing...

In the second degree, even. I didn't know recreational fishing was such a heinous crime that it merited degrees.

Kinda makes you wonder what First Degree Recreational Fishing is. Premeditated with intent to scale? Is there Capital Fishing in your state too?

Bond has a warrant out for arrest, and he's asking the ATOT nerds for help.
I see a new movie in the making.

I must've missed the part where he was asking for help. Can you point it out? Thanks.

It was an obvious call for help, as are most posts.

Why didn't you get a fishing license?

We weren't planning on fishing. It was sorta like, "hey theres a fishing pole! Let's throw it in!". Never even crossed our minds.

A likely story. Sounds like attempted murder to me. I hope they send you ... up the river.

Today he's fishing without a license, tomorrow he'll be out poaching, pretty soon he'll be trading his black tuxedo and Aston Martin in for a pickup truck and a pair of dirty overalls.

buddy of mine got a ticket for poaching because he didn't have a special stamp on his fishing license for trout

ticket was $185, stamp is $10...

Was he specifically fishing for trout or is that just what happened to end up on his hook?

Don't fish without dynamite.

Fixed that for ya.

Does that really work? Throw in a piece of dynamite and watch as the fish get pulled up to the surface? Doesn't the dynamite have to be waterproof? Would the explosion char the fish enough that you could eat it right there?

Yes...it works jest fine.
Most dynamite is waterproof enough for this task. (waxy paper coating)

No, the purpose is the shockwave, not the actual explosion. That part just makes chum out of any fish too close to "ground zero."

A farmer in the country noticed that a gentleman would fish at the lake (close to the farmer's house) and would always leave with a stringer full of fish. The fellow had a boat but a fishing pole was not to be seen.

The farmer mentioned the situation to the lake ranger. The ranger then started watching this man and all that the farmer said was true! The man would arrive at the lake in the morning and by early afternoon, he had a stringer full of fish. The ranger dressed like a fisherman one day and approached the man. They exchanged pleasantries and the stranger asked the ranger in disguise to come fish with him. They boated for 45 minutes and arrived at a secluded spot. The stranger then pulled out a stick of dynamite.

The stranger tosses the dynamite into the water and BANG! the surface is covered with fish.

Ranger: "I'm going to have to place you under arrest - I am a Ranger and you are fishing illegally!"

The stranger calmly lit another stick of dynamite and handed it to the ranger. Stranger: "Are you gonna talk or fish?"

How could they cite everyone on the boat if there was only one pole in the water? I would think that they could only issue one citation per pole.

EDIT: I just realized that, this being ATOT, my choice of phrasing will lead to certain jokes. I'm OK with that.

Either way this is just ridiculous. :|

I agree. This whole stinkin' "recreational fishing" thing is a damn racket for courts and lawyers to be fully employed. Only in Washington could they think of something so ridiculous.

If they dont want to be reasonable about this, call them up and tell them to jump in the lake. :|

He's either asking for help (input counts) or sympathy. Why else would he post it?

What I find rather funny (besides the charge itself) is that there were 3 cops on a boat. Did they really need that many at once?

Yeah the DNR don't play.

I fish 2x a year (if that) and pay $25 for a license just to avoid the situation you're in.

A friend of mine and his wife went for a hike and took his rifle along, deer and turkey were in season at the time. However a game warden gave his wife a citation for hunting without a license even though she had no gun.

You should have seen how serious the entire thing was. I was half-ready to be cuffed

One of the cops pulled out some binoculars with an accelerometer in them to show us how they so gracefully caught us from a half-mile away. We were sorta just like... "cool man".
