It's much better to just put everything in a joint account, sit down and talk about your monthly expenses/budget, your savings or investments, and each person's discretionary spending. The wife and I had tried several different methods of retaining individual funds but in the end, what worked best was just putting it all together and having a long and detailed discussion about how our income was to be utilized. We rarely ever have any more disagreements over money.

I tried a lot of stuff with my ex & she was never happy with any of it, I think the one she liked the best where she kept her check, child support, etc & I paid ALL bills.

It was one of the first things on the agenda when I got remarried & it's been painless this time around.

(My ex now pays me child support & she's poor as hell, but it was her choices that put her there...)

"I guess if family starting is gonna happen, then maybe agree on something like "90% of remaining salary goes to joint, and the rest can be used as spending money"

i'm open to compromise/negotiation but she's adamant in her stance.....
guess the more reason to plan this agreement out versus down the road having to argueing w/
a pregnant wife (of course my outlook on things might change by the circumstances then)
but in the mean time, while one of us is still thinking logically
