LOL. I am surpised that the cops didnt show up at my house last night. My brother made the mistake of telling my dad his speakers from '79 sucked. My dad had a couple of drinks and decided to hook up karokee for fathers day. .And I am not talking about walmart ghetto karokee, got all the equipment from when (wireless mics, equalizier, 1200 watt amp, 10,000 songs

Us Inconsiderate fvckwads just close our windows when her son "grills" in the backyard (this usually involves an entire container of starter fluid and enough smoke to smoke out the neighborhood). Notice close not slam and certainly not call 911...

From my backyard I can see a neighbor 3 houses down's backyard. Not that hard if there isnt a shed or something in the way.

A grill doesn't smoke for hours on end and they actually serve a purpose-you can cook food on them. Those firepits throw off way more smoke than a BBQ grill. I think they should be outlawed.
The next time the old bitty is looking out the window, stand up and look her way. Then yell as loud as you can, "Mrs. So-and-so, I can see your titties !". Problem solved.
I think it smokes more if your wood is wet - I have no problems with dry wood. We keep our wood out of the elements - my weber puts off way more smoke in the hour or so I am grilling than the firepit all night .
lol you got it easy. i got sued by my russian neighbors for having a fence on my own yard and that they could not get into it for i dont what reason. moved out a few months after because they are annoying as hell.

You can make them in your oven. I've never had a problem with grills putting out too much smoke. Those firepits are evil though. I hate them with a passion and I hate my neighbor with a passion when his inconsiderate ass uses it. :|
BBQ smells=good.
Fire smells=bad.

I remain skeptical. If it weren't annoying as hell I wouldn't be bitching about it.
Let me put it to you like this, it's 65 degrees outside at night and there is a nice breeze but I cannot open my windows or my house smells like it's on fire when he's using that damned thing. Would you be annoyed if you were me?
I'm not trying to say that they can't be smoky - if I was in your situation, I too might think they are evil! How often do they have the fire going? we only light ours once every few weeks. We always have our windows open (when we are home) when it is nice like that outside - even When we have the fire going (and you can't smell it in our house).
At least she isn't as bad as my parent's neighbor. An 80 year old crotchety nasty a$$ woman...she told them they couldn't have a dog, they couldn't install a pond, and they could not have a bricked in grill (really nice!!). When they installed all this (on their own propery) over the past few years she told them to rip it up because she didn't like it.
