I skipped from beginning to middle to end of this, but I wouldn't draw the same conclusion as you have. However, I think he's trying to do exactly the same thing with his voice as he was in his youth, and as singers get older it's just not possible for most of them; if they want to sing the same songs then they need to alter how they're singing it to suit their current vocal range. A lot of the time AFAIK it involves altering the key of the vocals (disclaimer: not my profession, just repeating what I remember hearing other accomplished, ageing singers say on this topic).

Listening to his voice makes me wonder whether he's constantly trying to re-live old glories rather than finding a place for himself in the current world.

It's kind of hard to do that though. Everyone expects them to sound the same. All voices change with time, especially singers. It is amazing that some of them maintain their voices quite well, but even those that sound similar still sound different. There are those who have managed over the years though (Christina Scabbia still sounds amazing 20 years later)

Field tickets for Cincinnati show are $300+ each, plus fees. Meh. Lower bowl seating is $240 each, plus fees.

Too much for me to be crammed in with 60,000 people for a couple hour show of dubious sound quality that I'll lucky to be able to see without binoculars.

My wife is pissy, she wanted to go. But there's just no value in this.

YOU!....Sir!...........are correct!

Horrible views at $$$......Binocular views are such a FUCKING waste of money (no vision/diluted sound).

"Acceptable", non-binocular views are super expensive, AND there'll likely be dubious "competent" sound quality......That douche ginger cat singer is rarely his best self and he'll likely purposely gnarl and wing it with the songs.

The golden age to have seen this band rock it was in the 90's.

I'm burned. I've seen enough 80's/90's "old timers" sound like shit when playing recently in large venues.

That last Madonna concert left a sour taste in my mouth--the crowd hated it also (and did I say that one was super expensive as well?).

Metallica at the Super bowl event?.....horrid lead guitar playing!

I'd rather put that hard earned money to work on another guitar and just buy the bluray for this event later on.

GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose has broken a bone in his foot, requiring a surgical procedure to insert a plate and screws. Rose revealed the injury via Twitter, saying "This is what can happen when you do something you haven't done in nearly over 23 years," apparently referring to GN'R's surprise concert last Friday featuring three members of the band's classic lineup: Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan. He also posted a video interview with his orthopedic surgeon in which the foot specialist revealed that Rose is currently in a cast and cannot put any weight on his foot. She pinpointed the break at Rose's fifth metatarsal.

Got my tickets yesterday for the show in Houston. Saw GnR in 2013, but it was just Axl and other guys as GnR.

Original GnR is one of the few left on my bucket list of shows. The other two probably will never happen (Nirvana definitely won't and Pink Floyd is slim to none.) Just crossed of ACDC before they had to postpone.

Floyd is the last for me. I'm having to miss Iron Maiden this Monday due to a business trip.

I should've gone to see Gilmour when he came by a few weeks ago - he was filming for a DVD.

Awe yeaaaaaah... Got my tix for SD 8/22.

Thanks NS1 for your consultation on seats!!!
