Given the way he sang since the beginning, technique wise (or more like lack off), it's no surprise he's destroyed his voice.

The presale 'VIP' ticket packages seem really expensive to me. I'm OK with groups doing this as it puts more money into the artist's pockets, but for some reason paying $1750 just to ask roadies how much work it is to put up a stage seems really really high. That could be because I've worked in convention centers and know roadies, but for that much I'd expect members of the band to look over in my direction even if they're just clearing their throat talking to someone else.

i know, right? him being so busy with the massive success of velvet revolver and slash's snake pit ..

Yeah, the nephew confirmed it I guess, the wife told him I thought it was an April Fools joke to begin with.

He's been doing transcription for a few big named guitarists for awhile now.

Surprised Slash is even involved in the thing, if it is real. I was going to have the wife talk to her nephew who is pretty close with him. Didn't bother.

I never cared for Axl to begin with really, I used to work with a guy that was a huge GNR fan. I told him tell me he's basically like a male Ethel Merman singing.

He came back a few days later and said "You're Right"

I guess I ruined it for him a little.

Knock knock knockin on the restaurants door
HAY hay hay hay hay

I feel about G'nR like The Dude feels about The Eagles. And radio stations play them waaaaaay too much.

Hell even back when I tried convincing myself that I liked them I always hated Axl.

Was Axl taking over vocals for AC/DC an April Fool's joke or is that real too?

Re: AC/DC it has not been confirmed or denied, but the rumors started way before April fool's

How is his voice these days? I've never seen GnR live but saw Megadeth live once and Dave's voice was so terrible I was shocked. He was struggling to sing.

Is it the same for Axl Rose?

Axl has never been a good live singer. He was more of a performer.

He usually does okay on the songs where he uses a rougher voice, like Night Train, but he usually isn't good on the songs where he needs to sing high and clean, like Sweet Child or the end of Rocket Queen.
In fact, he has never, ever, ever, EVER sang Sweet Child correctly live....not once, anywhere, even in 1987.
It's like he doesn't even care about that song. Even on their Live Era album, which most of isn't even remotely live (was re-done in the studio), Sweet Child sucks. And he could have re-sang that in the studio like he did most of the rest of it, but he chose not to.

He's mostly a studio creation, and cannot duplicate those creations in a live setting....and he never really could.
Not night after night, anyway. Occasionally he'd have a good night, but with the way he smoked, drank and did drugs, his voice was always hit or miss...mostly miss, even in their heyday.

Recent clips I've seen, it sounded like he was singing his high stuff a bit softer...almost in a falsetto, and other than not having the power his full voice did, it was actually a lot more consistent.

Fact is, no singer at his age can hit the highs they did in their 20's. It's to be expected. The real question is, does he have enough left so they can tune it down a bit and have it still sound decent?

I think he is.

And yeah, Axl was always an a-hole. He's bipolar. He can be the nicest guy and a minute later, he's Satan.

Ive seen GNR numerous times. His voice is fine. Judging audio by a cell phone recording isnt going to do to you any good.

There have been live official broadcasts.

His voice is what it is. Again, he's never been a great live singer. More of a performer.

Kind of like David Lee Roth. Either might could move around less and sing better, but they choose not to.

And I've seen the multiple times, too...but not since 1993.

My wife and a friend want to hit the cincy show. It's at Paul Brown Stadium (where Bengals play). Never really cared for shows where you could land a plane between you and the stage...especially when you have to pay $100+ a pop for that experience.

I'll still probably give in an go...just because I've never seen G'NR play and Appetite was one of the first CD's I ever owned.

Fortus looks like Izzy, Ferrer is the only guy from the replacement GNR members I would keep. But I am honestly surprised Sorum or Adler arent part of the tour. Really wish Izzy was playing though. This is close enough to check off my bucket list. I was just a bit too young for the Use Your Illusion tour. And there was no way I was going to see GNR with only Axl. I did go see Slash last Fall. Great concert!

I'll probably get tickets to the Nashville show but I'm worried Axl will sound awful. Saw Rush recently and had the same experience with Geddy in that show.

I'll be in for the Seattle show. Saw Slash and Duff with VR a few years back, but was way too young to ever go to a Guns show. Bucket list item right there with Pink Floyd...

oh yeah I totally forgot I caught VR; Patience was actually a highlight of their set for me.
