So sell me on the Xbox...

Modding into a Media Center and loading your games onto the hard drive are probably the most appealing things about Xbox. Add to that X-Box Live (or XBox Connect for free/mod users, I think it's called), and that should be reason enough to get it.

Umm... if you're pc-literate and have a decent gaming system, you probably don't need xbox. all console systems in general caters to people who don't want to spend money buying/building a game rig. If you have a good PC that can play the latest games decently, you probably don't need an xbox. Of course if you're in love with the games for said systems (Halo 2 for Xbox, GT4 for PS2), then you've got no choice but go console. I also find that PC's just LACK certain types of games that are abundant in consoles. For instance, FF style RPGs (any Squaresoft game, Breath of Fire just to name a few) are virtually absent on PC's for some reason. The latter system only has D&D style (Baldur's Gate, Temple of Elemental Evil) and Diablo-esque games. While the D&D games have awesome gameplay in their own right, there's something in the simplicity and the complex storyline of the FF style RPGs that's utterly addictive. Consoles also have a MUCH bigger following as far as racing and fighting games (mainly due to the controller). Xbox specifically has a lot of racing, fps, and action/adventure games. if you're looking for RPG's, it doesn't have much at all (I can only think of Morrowind and Fable).

Personally, I have a PC and am very happy with the games I can play (FPS, RTS). When I do get the frequent itch to play console style RPG's, I whip out the old SNES and PSX emulators and hook up my cheap controller. SNES and PS1 have the best RPGs EVER. I do have an Xbox, Gamecube and Dreamcast but I don't play them that much nowadays... although I really love the Dreamcast.

Mod your xbox and change the hard drive...
Back up games
Emulators (NES, snes, genesis, arcade, n64...etc)
Great media player, thrown ANY type of file at it, and Media Player will play it.
Awesome loading times cause games will be on the hard drive
Stream your music, pictures, movies through a network

General ++
Games in 720p are great...need the High Def pack though along with an HDTV and surround sound system.
Xbox live...people seem to like it..it's not for everyone...but for $50/yr its a good deal.
For the GT4 fanboys...Forza is coming out...hehe.

I personally like the library of games recently too...
KOTOR2
Riddick
Ninja Gaiden
Halo2

At lunch today some of the guys at work were talking about the PS2. They said they were the cheapest made system and that they break much more frequently than XBox or GameCube. That should at least narrow your selection to those two.

Next...GameCube is nice, but most games are still geared toward little kids. XBox is geared toward men in their 20s-30s. The games are simply better by the target market.

Well, my girl likes to play me at Mario Kart. That's about the only game we've played together, but she likes racing games like NFS:UG too.

Hahah remember a really xbox commerical 4 brothers playing xbox. Then next day 1 brother comes home with a ring. Then next day xbl! The wive is pissed off haha.

Buy an XBOX because Forza will be the sh!t when it comes out on May 3rd. Has online support (unlike GT4), tiremarks on the road, more realistic engine & drifting sounds, and doesn't have 52 Nissan Skylines (which is a good thing by the way 😉).
