My brothers and I have had a Dreamcast, Playstation, Playstation 2, and Gamecube between us. I'm getting married in a few months and I want my own game system. I'm considering an Xbox, because I've heard they can be modded and because I just played Halo 2 for the first time the other night. It was fun, but aiming with a joystick is wicked hard. I'm too used to a keyboard and mouse for Counter-Strike. So...sell me on the Xbox, all you Xbox owners. What's so great about it? Why get one? What kind of mods can you do? What fun games are there for it? I don't like simulations. I like first-person shooters, fun racing games, and spaceship shoot-em-ups.

Is that the online thing? I played Xbox the other night at my friend's house with my projector in 720p, it looked pretty good. We played online, 4 people in the apartment, and the server was full (I think 16 people). He also had headsets, which was cool. But why not just use a PC?

Oh dude...I'd buy a PS2 just for GT4, that game looks amazing! Do they make NFS:UG2 for PS2? I tried the demo and had fun with it, plus it's one of the few games my girl likes. If I get a system I'll need games that can have 2-player racing with 2 wheel controllers so we can race. What are the good wheel controllers out there?

My bro picked up one of those new mini PS2's when he got married and left us the big PS2. The thing is TINY. Eh, it's a toss up 🙂
 
I never considered myself a console person, until I got my modded xbox. I have played it WAY more than I ever thought I would.

i just prefer their games. Fine... i wont be a nef.

All that matters is games. If there are a lot of games on xbox that you want to play and are willing to pay for it, then get one. Not to mention all-platform games usually look better on the xbox.

And then if you mod the xbox, then all hell breaks loose.

 
mod the xbox. connect it to your wireless network. Stream music, movies, etc. over with xbox media center. And occasionally play some games
 
At lunch today some of the guys at work were talking about the PS2. They said they were the cheapest made system and that they break much more frequently than XBox or GameCube. That should at least narrow your selection to those two.

Next...GameCube is nice, but most games are still geared toward little kids. XBox is geared toward men in their 20s-30s. The games are simply better by the target market.

then just get GT4. it's not only the graphics that is good. the new game engine also feels more realistic than any old GT game engine... it may be a bit weird if you're used to 3rd person like i did, but then you'll realize that 1st person is how you should play it... with the engine noise on full blast =)

Lets see, you could load it up with various DivX/MPEG2/MP3's/WMA's, anything, using XBMC
You could back up all your games
You could play imports
You could use emulators on the XBOX
Of course, you need a modchip for all this, check out XBOX Scene, they'll convince you to buy one 😀
