So our priest denied our daughter's baptism...

Wow! The priest needs to go back and study Catholic doctrine. Sacraments are efficacious symbols and as such have the power to actualize the reality they represent. From a dogmatic point of view, baptizing your daughter should be a top priority for him.

I would point this out to him.

Luke 18:15-17 People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they sternly ordered them not to do it. But Jesus called for them and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it."

I always referred to it as christening, but I guess baptism works too because that is what the woman at the church registered it as before we got the ban stick.

I guess because the 7 sacraments don't have the word "christening" in it.

Marriage
Holy Orders
Anointing of the Sick

Catholicism is a religion of reliance and adherence to tradition and ritual. It is important for the OP because he was baptized when he was a child and his ancestors/family before him. It's just "what good Catholics do" without questioning why they want it done, what it truly signifies, and if it means anything when done in a half-hearted, non-committed manner. It's an outwardly act for show and not so much a spiritual life changing decision and milestone.

Sounds like you learned a valuable lesson. I learned it when I was about 8. Try a new religion. We can be brothers in apatheism :^D

What's this NIV/NKJ touchy feely crap? The "Suffer little children" was the truest line in the whole new testament and they went and wrecked it.

And cc the pope. In any case your baby doesn't have anything to worry about even without a baptism since the pope got rid of Limbo a while back, so all babies go to Heaven automatically if they die, just like dogs.

Heaven is full of babies? Who'd want a heaven like that? Dogs, definitely in but babies? Yuck.
 
If you want to guilt him into it, ask him what would happen if she died without the sacrament of baptism or if its fair to blame her for the sins of her father???
 
Did he actually say no? Seems like he wants to know the baby will be brought up in the religion. Perhaps you could speak to him in person and explain what you told us in the OP? I didn't know priests used email, does he have a .god domain?
